It's a big surprise, but, anyway, since last year i'm using stereo outputs only... But in a simple rehearsal it might be a little annoying.

Wrong image at Nord's website then?

Apparently so. The link even says 4d so they are linking to an old photo.

The pics posted on the E5 images page are wrong for the back of each model as well... at least at the time of this posting.

Perhaps those images were rendered or were prototypes.

Its very strange it's the first keyboard I have ever seen that don't allow for mono output on the left channel! This feature is present Even in all the other nord keyboard I can remember ..... :o . A ll this little missing details from nord electro 5 ( midi control of lower organ part, clav filters, this output " missing " a full mono make me think that electro five was just developed too fast. So maybe nord have to do some OS correction for al this problems ( but for the mono output I don't know if they will be able to do it via software, I think it's not possible but who knows?). Meanwhile I will just wait untill the next os update....

Page 20 of the manual:

Unbalanced line level outputs for amplifier or recording equipment. the Nord Electro 5 is a stereo instrument with separate signal paths for left and right audio channels.

Though now I wonder, when you're playing the piano section in mono mode, does it send the same mono signal to both left and right outputs?

Nord is good at many things, but writing manuals is not one of them.

I wonder that too. I tend to think it will only be stereo or dual L/U mono. This had to be a deliberate decision since there is no mono label on the Left output.. Perhaps it's an architectural design change associated with the new split and stereo effects features.

The E5 is a musical Swiss Army Knife... or rather a Swedish Army Knife. What it lacks in some areas it makes up in spades in others. Maybe mono is old hat. It is 2015 after all. Still love The Beatles mono records though...

Luckily, for rehearsals I use a old "Manufactured in England" Vox AC15 Blue that has two inputs. That's going to come in handy.

The Electro 5 will send both the Upper and Lower sounds out of one jack. I have not tested each jack separately, but using the Left out for rehearsals (gigs in stereo) and I get both Upper and Lower sounds from the Left output jack with no problem.

:thanks:
Where you in stereo mode?
Maybe in stereo mode its left output function as mono the same way that it does in my roland keyboard that goes everytime in stereo mode ( there is no mono mode or other way of setting sound output) but if you put the jack only on the left output they this out function as a mono output.
This make more sense that not having a mono mode at all, simply is not well documented but this is not a big news .... . I donnt use mono very often but when you are doing very small gigs it could came in handy expecially when the foh mix is a very small one..
