Nord Electro 5: Can you Split and Layer Simultaneously?
I've been thinking about getting the electro 5 hp 73 for sometime now (if I had the money I would have a long time ago). I've read that you can do splits and layer on it but I'm not sure if you can do them simultaneously. For instance having a piano+strings on the lower half with an organ on the upper half. Or even farther an ep+sample synth on lower half with a sample synth+organ on upper.

The NE is a bitimbral keyboard and the possible combinations are listed in the NE5 manual, they cover almost all scenarios but in any case you can't use 3 different engines (Organ, Samplesynth, Piano) at the same time; as a workaround (with limitations) NE5 users can create/load pre-layered waveforms on the Sample Synth (eg EP+pad or others you can also find on this forum)

I can't really afford a new stage 2 but possibly a used stage ex. how would that older model hold up to an electro 5?

I had concerns about layering before I bought my Electro 4D. It turns out to not be a big deal there are samples for layered stuff on the rare occasion I actually want to do that. I also occasionally use one of my synthesizers along with the Electro for that type of thing. There are a good number of capable synthesizers that cost less than the difference between the stage and electro.
