Nord Electro 2 Rack

Postby BravoJr » 07 Nov 2011, 12:10

I'm starting to look around for a Nord Electro 2 Rack. I've seen a few demos on youtube, and read reviews... But do any of you own one? What are your thoughts? Why were they discontinued? Are they hard to find? I'm really only curious about the electric pianos. I plan on using the upper manual of my Nord C2 to trigger the module, and spare me from touring with my Rhodes Mk V.

I've watched a couple on ebay, they seem to go for around $1000 - $1300.

Thanks...

I've owned a Nord Electro 2 Rack for about 5 years. I recently purchased the Electro 3 and really love it but I've been holding on to the Rack.
I had thought about selling it but the times I've looked on Ebay to get a sense of what they are going for there were never any available.

Brand new I believe they were selling for $1100. I Probably wouldn't even think of letting mine go for less than $800.

Are you sure about the prices you saw? I don't see how anyone could get that much for an 'Electro 2 Rack.....

I could be thinking of the "BUY IT NOW" price option... But pretty much the three I've seen have sold for an average of $1100.

what do you think of the electric pianos? Does the sustain footswitch on your midi controller activate the sustain, or do you have to use the sustain on the module?

I just got my E2 rack out and I'm wondering why did I get the E3. This thing sounds great . I'm running the most recent update from Nord. It receives sustain thru midi but will probably not trigger the Leslie sim this way.I only have one Rhodes loaded and it's very authentic. the Wurly is great. I would assume these are the same samples Nord has used for years. The memory in it would allow you to load most of the Rhodes samples from the Library possibly using other memory slots that might have been intended for Ap or CP80 or clav. You could pick and choose your Rhodes. The B3/Leslie combination is still sweet.

Thanks!

That's great, I like that you can load a ton of variations of one instrument. I really like the EPs I've heard from Nord, some great Wurly indeed. After spending time with my C2, I can really tell apart the C2 hammond tone, and the electro 2's. I guess I'm treating this like a Electric Piano expansion to the C2.

Love to get my hands on one someday...

I'm selling my NOrd Electro 2 rack. Before I put it on Ebay I wanted to mention it here. It's 5 years old with some minor scratches but is in
perfect working order. Will ship with the bag pack that I carried it in.

Please see my ad in the "buy and sell" section.

I had a friend tell me the other day that the Nord Electro 2 and presumably the Rack version as well, cannot be loaded with additional sound banks. Is this correct? Are the NE2 sounds unable to be changed with sounds out of the sound library?

There are some different Rhodes sounds, a mono Acoustic piano and maybe another version of an Acoustic (small sample) that can be loaded into the NE 2 but the newer piano samples, sparkle top Rhodes and the samples from the Nord Library are not compatible with the NE 2 and cannot be loaded. You have to go to the NE 3 or the Nord Stage EX or Stage 2 to be able
to take advantage of the updated samples/sounds.
