I finally got my electro 5D 61 yesterday. Sounds and plays exactly as I expected. However, when I power it up, I notice the faintest buzz from the unit. Hard to tell where it is or originating from, but it does not affect the performance or sound at all. Has anyone else had this experience?

Re: New electro, slight buzz?
Well, I've done some searching (should've done before I posted) and I see that this is not an uncommon question/issue. Annoying but manageable!

You might want to put a ground loop isolator between your output of you device and your amp/powered speakers. You can get them at Amazon for under $10 USD.
Here is the one I use on my Nord Stage 2.

I also needed adapter cables 1/4 inch TS to RCA.

Things quieted down nicely after that.
Edit:
Whoops and the other end of the isolator

Re: New electro, slight buzz?
Not signal buzz - power supply buzz.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Mine has a slight but noticeable hum.

Re: New electro, slight buzz?
Fenton - thanks for the gear tips and analogika for the clarification. I'll see how much it bothers me after a week and then probably will get the ground loop isolator et al.

Only get the ground loop isolator if the buzz is coming through your speakers. If it is a power supply buzz (still sounds with speakers turned off completely) it won't help.

Re: New electro, slight buzz?
I just got an Electro 5D 73 and it has more than a "slight" buzz. More like a hum, but quite audible (and annoying) in a quiet room (like a studio!). Moving my head around the front panel, i found the sound seems to be coming from the area near where the power cord enters the chassis. So i'm thinking it's a "power supply hum" or a "transformer hum."
It does *not* come out of the audio outputs, just thru the air from the chassis. The unit sounds fine thru the speakers.
Apparently this is happening to other 5D owners; do *all* 5D's make this sound, or just certain individual units?
And of course the bottom line: is there a fix for it?
Thanks

Yes, it is transformer hum coming from the power supply. No, there is no fix for it.

Well that's not good. Not for what these things cost. If Nord can't manage a quiet power supply, my first Electro will be my last...and I'm sure I won't be alone.
I can't believe they let this kind of problem out of the shop. It's this kind of thing that can quickly shrink sales, and suddenly our beloved Nords are collector items. Then we slouch back to Roland or Yamaha, corporatized against all our wishes...
Someone with connections please slap someone in Sweden. This is double-plus uncool.
