Hello. I am recent owner of a NE5D. On power-up, the display tells me the OS is 1.3. I notice on the Nord website, the latest OS for this keyboard is 1.42. The website includes an Update History so we can see what changes are included with each update.

Interestingly, I can find no information on the website or the Owner's Manual on how to perform the OS update shows. Can someone tell me what I need to do to install the latest OS?

Important: do I need to backup programs and set list I have made before doing the update?

First you need to get the cable. Target doesn't have it, Best Buy does.
Then just fire up the Electro with it plugged in and NORD does the rest.
Currently running OS 1.42, no issues.

Ha Ha! Yes, first I have to get the cable, and yes I am planning a trip to Best Buy. You know my situation exactly.

I forgot to say in my original post that my computer is a PC running Win 7.

So let's see if I have this right: get cable; connect NE5D to computer using USB cable; unzip the Nord OS Update file; I'm assuming that after unzipping the Update file, there will be an "Install" or "Run" icon, and I should click on that icon; sit back and relax; and then either the computer or the NE5D will tell me that the update is completed. Is that correct?

How long does it take for the update to complete?

Do I need to back-up any custom NE5D programs I have made?

Update is a single .exe you have to run, it takes a few minutes, no need to backup (but doesn't hurt if you do)
