NE5D Control Pedal Vol vs Wah

Postby Charlie Rage » 27 Aug 2017, 01:29

I'm a new owner of a Electro 5D - I've owned the Electro 3 for years.

I am used to using the control pedal (I use a Yamaha FC7) as volume for organ and wah for Clav - on the Electro 3 it just controls that function when I change sounds.

Is there a way to turn off the volume function for the control pedal when I go to a clav sound and assign the pedal to just the wah effect? I understand how to create programs, and I understand how to assign the pedal for each part and each effect, but it seems the volume control functionality is there even when I assign an effect (such as wah for the clav) to the pedal.

I do own a wah pedal and can always use that, but I love having the one pedal control both functions separately depending on what sound I'm playing.

I've done multiple searches for an answer, and scanned 27 pages of Electro forum for a similar question and it seems I'm the first one (which surprises me)... so thanks in advance for an answer!!

On your clav program you can assign the control pedal to volume (shift-octave shift button), effect 1, both, or neither. I'm not sure what you're asking- if you want the pedal to only do wah, deselect control pedal under part lower (or upper).

The parameters for control pedal for both places are savable per program, so if you switch to a different program they will change.

Thanks for your reply! Yes I'm asking how to make it so that the control pedal only controls the wah, and not the volume. I do understand the idea of the programs and saving settings per program. I also know that when you use shift-octave it toggles between control pedal on and off. But I don't see how to access the options you're talking about, where it toggles volume, effect 1, both, or neither. Am I missing something obvious? Thanks again!

OK, let's say you're creating a program "Auto Wah Clav" in program slot 3.1. You want the Control pedal to control volume but not wah. You would enable control pedal under the Part section and deselect it under effect 1, save the program.

Then you make another program "Wah Clav CP" in slot 3.2. For this one you want control pedal to control wah but not volume. Enable CP under Effect 1 and deselect it under "Part" save the program.

Then you make a third program which is a split with auto wah Clav on Part Lower, B3 on Part upper, but you want the CP to control organ swell on the upper Part and do nothing to the Clav. You would enable CP on part upper, deselect it on both part lower and Effect 1. Save the program.

Now as you move from program to program, the CP will behave as desired on each one.
