Crappy headphone connections have been the issue for at least three recent discussions on this board. Bizarre.

Sorry guys, but I really think, that my NE5 sounds a little bit softer with 1.42. I checked the gain- and the eq-settings and perhaps there is a real update-problem.
Perhaps only with some epianos. I will contact support, to be sure, because we have important gigs in the near future.

hi, i had the same problem during a gig, where i had a monitorbox for myself connected to the headphone jack via a stereo to xlr cable, which went into my mono box.Other outlets went through di box, and the stage /pa sound seemed ok.
levels were ok for acoustic piano and organs, but epianos i could not hear. if i change routing in system from stereo to Sp or So the problem goes away. Never happened when i had my little mixer in between. Phase cancelling?

With the split between full size and mini headphone jacks, many people are using adapters with their headphone cables, and I have found that the adapters can be a source of problems. If there's an issue with the adapter or its connection to the main cable, you may only get 1 of the 2 (stereo) channels. This can show up as hearing the reverb but little-to-none of the original signal for some sounds, as the original may be panned to the "wrong" side and so all you're hearing is (one channel of) the stereo reverb.

I had a similar Problem; electro 73/3 . Usually I use a Little Mixer to feed my stereosignal to an active mono Monitor for myself, pan all set to one side, while the PA is fed through DI Boxes.
Last Gig the stage tech decided to try the Headphonesocket for the Monitor, so he used a Stereo male to xlr male cable to hook up the Monitor.

Output in SYSTEM/ was set to Stereo.
What happened was that some sounds were loud and clear, while others, especially epianos, were low in volume.
As I did not have a General stagemonitor, I went to fiddle with the Volumeknob on the Monitor, so I got very loud Sound on some sounds (ac piano, organs) and so so on e pianos.

I could reproduce that in the Studio, and the effect/failure went away when SYSTEM Output was set to SP or SO instead of STereo.

What I figure is that some sounds are sampled in MONO and are then fed phaseinverse to the headphonesocket. when taking it from there, they cancel out through interference.
Any comments on this?
