Musicians - Helping Santa Rosa Fire Victims

Postby jazzmonger » 13 Oct 2017, 14:08

Some of you may remember my posts that I got my NS3 Compact from Germany a couple weeks ago but my joy was short lived....I live in Santa Rosa and if you've been watching the news you know what's happening here. 3,000 homes destroyed by devastating fires, 20,000 people evacuated. Wineries and vineyards that have stood for a century or more damaged or destroyed. I've been evacuated twice and am living on an RV in front of my company parking lot...

I did grab my NS3 as I was headed out the door - all my other gear is in the house. Which is still there. So far but we're not out of the woods yet. If the wind shifts, we may lose the house, but we're fortunate things are currently holding steady but there's 0.00% containment of the fires near me and they are north, east and south of me by only 1-3 miles...

Others haven't been so lucky. I'm the only one in the county right now doing a fund raiser for musicians in Sonoma County who have lost literally everything. I know of 6 musicians so far who made it out with just the shirt on their backs.

There is some drone video I posted there from a buddy of mine that will blow you away. It looks like a nuclear holocast. And I'm not being melodramatic. If anyone here can find it in their hearts to donate to these poor folks who lost everything and have no insurance like I do, it would be much appreciated. If you do donate, leave a note saying you're from this forum. I'm trying to keep track of all the donations, and folks as far away as the U.K. And India have donated.

On a much more positive note, I just found out my band The Melt http://www.themeltfunk.com will be the only co-bill at a show in 2 weeks with Dumpstaphunk, an amazing New Orleans funk group, at the Hopmonk in Sebastopol on 11/1/17. That's now turned into a fundraiser for the fire victims. After Katrina, these guys know a thing or two about fund raisers. It'll be my first gig with the NS3, and of course, my B3/122. Because Ivan Neville would obviously play on nothing less!

Sad but hopeful,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I'm just down the road in the South Bay. Been smelling the smoke since Monday. I can't imagine the stress there must be and hope you are spared the worst of it.

Its incredibly sad to see the pictures and videos of the scorched earth remains.

We were supposed to play a benefit gig this Saturday, but it was cancelled/delayed because of the crappy air quality. Its got to be significantly worse where you are.

Congrats on your gig though. Be safe and knock em dead in Sebastopol.

thinking good thoughts for you,

philip
