Mixer setup
Adding an 88 key piano as bottom to E5d61. I will use a small mackie mixer to eq volumes. I go to an ev monitor out to pa board. So I'm supposing (mono) that I simply connect both boards into separate mixer channels and then main out to monitor.Am I missing anything?

Re: Mixer setup
Sounds like you're planning to send a feed from your monitor to the PA. I don't see why it wouldn't work although adjusting the volume on your monitor may impact the volume being sent to the PA. Not sure if that's what you want or not?
Here's a couple of alternatives which will allow you to adjust the volume from your monitor without affecting what goes to the PA.
Option 1 - Send one feed from your mixer to your monitor and a separate one to the desk. I currently do this by sending the main output from my mixer to the PA and the headphone output on my mixer to my monitor
Option 2 - Send the output from your mixer into a DI box that will let you split the output with one feed going to your monitor and the other to the PA.
There are other ways but these are the two that I always use and it lets me tweak my on stage volume without affecting the front of house volume.

Re: Mixer setup
I suppose what I'm trying to do is to make sure that Foh(pa) is getting equal volumes of different tones. For example,me experience shows that different boards output different samples in totally different volumes.Brass is always loud while APs are much mellowed. The Nord outputs a mamoth organ sound. If I want the pianos to be of equal or at least editable volumes what setup is right.Maybe this muddied things rather than clarified!

Re: Mixer setup
Although it's a bit tedious, you can work on leveling the volumes within the programs on your instruments so they match.
My experience has been that the organ sounds are actually a bit lower than the piano and other volumes. I've compensated by adjusting the gain on my piano programs down to better match the organ.
In your case, go to the patches that are the lowest in gain, and then adjust your other programs to similar levels. This way, what you are sending to FOH is consistent.

Re: Mixer setup
If you want to have complete control, have a mixer that has at least one Monitor out on top on the Main out...I use a one rack unit (Well, two in fact, one Tascam LM-8T and one ART Audio MX822 but just because I have lot of synths and keys to mix...), The main out goes to PA and the monitor out to my powered speakers...In each channel, I can adjust the volume for both, PA and my monitor...then, you can adjust what you want...As for the difference in volume, just use the output 1%2 for Piano and 3&4 for Organ...and adjust the level on your mixer...

Re: Mixer setup
Which Mackie mixer?
If it has an AUX master level, send the AUX Out to your monitor. Use the channel AUX level to adjust your individual keyboard mix and the AUX Master to adjust the overall level.
Send the Master L or R to the FOH with the channel and Master LR levels at 0. Use the channel gains to get theverything meter hitting 0db at full volume and key velocity.
