Hi,
I would really like to know if it is possible to assign sounds to buttons on the Electro 3, instead of having to scroll up through the menu. I play in a band and it would help me a great deal if there is a way of doing this.
Thank you for your help.
John

Re: Help please with assigning sounds to buttons
Hello James and welcome to the forum:)
I am sorry but I am not completely sure what you are asking. Would you be so kind to expand on that?
Best regards
Cbas

Re: Help please with assigning sounds to buttons
Hi Cbas
Thank you for your reply and sorry if I was not clear enough.
When I need to change the sound, is it not possible to have the sounds assigned to a single button, rather than having to scroll up and down using the arrows on programme A and B.
For example, If I need to go from 1B to 6B, is it possible to access 6B by pressing one button and not using the arrow up or down?
Hope this is more clear and look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks
James

Re: Help please with assigning sounds to buttons
Okay now I understand. No need to apologize :)
I am sorry, but I don't think it is possible to do it any other way, than what you suggest yourself. I definitly understand why this can be frustrating though.
The only alternatives I can think of is to either make a program on the Live-button so you can quickly change program to what you want.
Or you could arrange your programs so you always have the programs you need close together. You might even need to have several of the same programs several places, so you can switly change beetween the programs.
You can use the Nord Sound Manager to help you arrange the programs more easily.
Hope it helps a bit.

Re: Help please with assigning sounds to buttons
Hello Again
Thank you very much. At least I now know the limitations. Most helpful. I need to do more planning of program positions.
I did an important gig last night, and lots of people praised the sounds of the 'Nord Electro'
Thanks again.
Best Wishes

Re: Help please with assigning sounds to buttons
I love my E3, but I find it interesting how no single manufacturer does it all. It almost seems like a conspiracy!
The Nords have these beautiful sounds, many great adjustments, but.....no assignable buttons, no complete keyboard splits, etc.
Others have this basic stuff figured out long ago, but have lousy sounds, etc.
Am I the only one who thinks this way? It seems life in general runs by these rules too.

@YvesEchoes
yes, if the midi controller sends program change data, it is fully possible.
@theGman
i wonder what this super-keyboard would look like (and sound like), to make all people on earth happy...

Re: Help please with assigning sounds to buttons
I had the same problem and solved it by buying this MIDI keypad:
http://midi-hardware.com/PCkpad
It connects to MIDI IN socket and sends a midi program change message with two key presses (for numbers 1-9 you have to press #, and numbers 10-99 without #). No. 1 corresponds to program 1a, no. 2 to 1b etc., no. 99 to 50a. This allows a quick access to 99 programs, which is more than enough for me. The only problem is to remember which sound is which number (I have a printout taped onto my NE3 to help my ailing memory).
