Well, if it really bugs someone but they love the E5 otherwise, they could just not use the Nord sim on those occasions when they want the cleanest sound, and run the Nord through one of numerous high quality external sims, just as people have long run Nords and other clonewheels through Ventilators to get the Leslie sounds that they found most desirable. So it's not like there's no possible solution available. Maybe the Electro-Harmonix Lester-K? That one is moderately priced, and supposedly lets you get the rotary with no overdrive if you want.

Interesting thought Another Scott.

So, if I were to get a Electro-Harmonix Lester-K, what is the signal path? I assume you turn off the 5D Leslie, and then route the stereo output through the Electro-Harmonix Lester-K to the mixer? And for piano voices, just leave the Electro-Harmonix Lester-K Off? Thanks for the great idea!

For the record, the B3 growl sound is fairly low when playing even quiet passages in a band. Our jazz trio (me, bass guitarist, and drummer) loves my 5D sounds. I'm really loving the piano samples too. The synth samples are way behind the times, but I have a Tyros 5 (76), so that avenue is well covered.

Yup, that should work fine! Another way to do it would be to take advantage of the E5's split (dual mono) output option, sending organ out one side and piano out the other, where the organ side would be routed through the Lester-K. The advantages of doing that is, if you are consistent in which side you're playing what sound on, you may not have to bother with dis-engaging the Lester-K rotary effect when playing other sounds (or forgetting to disengage it, and momentarily hearing leslie on your piano by accident), and also, you could do a piano/organ split and have Leslie on the organ and not on the piano. However there is also a disadvantage to this approach, in that you would be playing your pianos in mono instead of stereo. That might not matter to you, if you're playing mono anyway, of course.

Great advice, Scott. Many thanks! I still love my 5D but the Lester G may be one step to an even finer sound.

I see the Stage 3 is out! No word on prices yet but no worries. I live in Canada. We won't see it in stores until the 24th century. We're always asked last to the dance.
