Electro 5 HP push buttons

Postby roseland67 » 17 Nov 2016, 07:25

Is there a physical or tech reason why
Nord continues to use the push buttons
in lieu of the sliders for organ control?

Is there a plan to add the sliders to the Electro HP

no one here knows the answer to this question with any certainty, but it is suspected that the reason is philosophical

people who are primarily organ players will buy the SW action
people who are primarily piano players will buy the HP action

people who are not intimately familiar with the art of drawbar playing (like myself) will appreciate the LEDs providing
visual feedback as to current settings, something which does not exist on Drawbar models

no one here knows what plans there may or may not be for the future -- this forum is not directly, or even indirectly, affiliated with Nord in any way

I personally prefer the buttons over the sliders. The sliders look like something that would be the most likely to break or malfunction, and as Pablo said I like the digital feedback.

Well,
I guess I just disagree, the push buttons are for organ controls, not piano,
And the overwhelming majority of organ players use draw bars.
I never look at physical display for feedback, I feel and listen to the tone I want
With my fingers on the draw bars and adjust on the fly accordingly.
The Nord E5HP is exactly what I am looking for but I cannot
Get past the unusual pushbhtton draw bars.

Kurzweil Forte SE is close, but only comes in 88 keys and that
Simply won't fit in my vehicle, and their 76 key version
Uses the TP8 keybed which I don't like for piano.

Oh well, keep looking and hope the manufacturers
Build what I need.

Thanks from Chicago
