Hello Everyone,
Being, primarily, an old school rock & blues piano player, I absolutely love rehearsing and gigging with the E3HP. As a budding organ player, however, I am encountering an annoying “bouncing key” issue that compromises my playing.
While playing any quick tune with fast block chords (as an example, “What Is Hip?” by Tower of Power), the keys will bounce and inadvertently re-trigger notes. This can happen while performing a monophonic solo/melody line, as well. At first I thought I could eliminate this issue by setting the Organ Trig Mode to “Low”, but it seems that the problem exists with either a Low or High Trig setting.
Is it me? . . My heavy-handed playing style? Are any there other players experiencing this issue? Is there a software or hardware solution?
Thought I’d throw it out to the lions.
Regards,
Chris

Hello sus_4,
Welcome to the forums!
Hi Chris,
Just my opinion, but...
I've had this same problem with all of the Hammonds that I've owned over the years.
It's pretty well a common phenomenon with low mass, quick triggering keybeds. Many vintage recordings contain this artifact.
It can be reduced by striking with {less} force.
Think of it as the annoying string squeak when you run your finger up and down guitar strings, (just the nature of the instrument).
Cheers, Hanon

Electro 3 HP - organ playing issue
Hello, Hanon.
First let me say that you are a most kind, congenial, fair, and attentive forum master.
Yes, I have experienced this certain anomaly with Hammond organs, and you are right: a more forceful hit to the keys helps eliminate it. I am finding just the opposite result with the HP keybed, however... I have to play with a softer touch in order to avoid the "bounce" that re-triggers notes. This has forced me to adapt a new playing technique when I play organ.. Certainly not a bad thing, but I never had this issue while playing organ on my former Electro 3 SeventyThree, Electro 2, or for that matter, a Stage Classic 88 which had a similar (I know, not the same) hammer action.
I do use an M-Audio Axiom as a controller keyboard for a Motif rack, and I could devise a switching system where I could alternately control the Motif and the Electro 3's organ, but I have tried this approach and I know that I would really miss the High Trig mode on the E3 keyboard.

Hi sus_4,
I meant to put the word "less" ahead of force, but missed it
I've since edited the post....
My thinking here was that organ is not velocity sensitive and any note velocity between 1 and 127 triggers the same way.
The less force that you put in, the less rebound.
Sorry for the mistake "long weekend".
Cheers, Hanon

P.S. the "light trigger point" setting in the settings might help if its that much of a problem. Of course it will slow down your playing, but you could adjust. At least you get an option.
