While I like the internal effects of my E3, I use an Eventide Time Factor delay pedal. I'm also planning on a Ventilator for the Leslie sim.
I'm wondering if any of you players like to use other external effects / stompboxes. I'm curious as to how common effects (Chorus, Tremolo, etc) affect our digital keyboards (as opposed to typical true analog instruments).

Re: Anyone prefer external effects?
Eventide has a reputation for quality effects.
I only use outboard effects when in the recording studio. I usually record without effects, then add them in post-pro.
When I play live, I use the on-board effects.

Re: Anyone prefer external effects?
I've been running my Electro through a Kaoss pad for delay effects and other spacy sounds.

Re: Anyone prefer external effects?
i've been using a ventilator with my e3 since last summer - it allowed me to finally stop dragging my leslie 145 with me everywhere.. i have a speakeasy leslie preamp that i use in-line between the e3 and the ventilator to give me a little more authentic crunch.. the piano side of the house goes through a line6 M9 that i use for all of my effects except wah, which i use internal for.. i love the reverbs in the M9 and the ping-pong delay on rhodes, the delays are also fantastic.. i run both the piano side of the e3 through it as well as my moog, and it sounds really great.. the best part of the m9 is the ability to stack 3 effects and select between two different presets at each stage, so for example i have two different reverbs i use, one nice and clean, and one with a bit of saturation and grit to it to make the epianos sound more like they're going through a tube amp.. the m9 has amp sims too, but i haven't needed them much, they're all a bit too, i dunno, guitar-y? definitely worth every penny to me..
