Hi,
I'm not a drummer but I know how to program drum tracks on Cubase, usually I entered them manually in my stage II but is the Nord Drum will be a good choice to do this song, PHIL Collins, in the air tonight....
Would I need to program drums track op into a second device (Ipad, computer) so is there a sequencer in Nord Drum?
Or should I use the Nord lead 2 drums kits for it?
Your advices?
Thanks
Sincerely

Re: NORD DRUM GOOD FOR INTHE AIR TONIGHT?
Hi Quai!
The drums in the song seem a blend of floor tom / bassdrum sounds and a synth drum sequence, near the end of the song a more aggressive sounding kit kicks in..
Yes, I think you should be able to get similar synth drum sounds out of the Nord Drum 1 or 2 !
I don't know much about the Nord Lead 2, if you happen to have one, please check that out as well, experiment, maybe check the Lead forum if someone posted something on drum sounds
none of the above synths will be able to really mimic the more aggressive acoustic drum sounds that you hear near the end of the song, maybe you'll need some drum samples + effects (or plugin) on top, in order to get that sound
or a drumkit - and a drummer perhaps then..
The Nord Drum 1 nor 2, has a sequencer on board, so you'll need a computer or tablet to program songs on.
There are several sequencer apps, including the free step sequencer Nord Beat 2 for iOS - in which you can easily create songs from patterns -
In Cubase it's just a matter of creating a track with the right MIDI channel and program the whole song as you're used to
Cheers,
Albert

If you're not a drummer and you're using a computer, check out this VST:
http://www.alyjameslab.com/alyjameslabvsdsx.html
I own this and it's a very good Simmons SDS emulation for the price.
The Nord Drum 2 is probably the best modern hardware emulator of that classic 80s synth drum sound but it's an e-drum brain, not a drum machine, it can be sequenced by other things like a computer but it's geared more towards playing live with e-drum triggers. It costs a lot of money so I wouldn't recommend it to people that intend to sequence it with a computer exclusively.

Yes, and after all, Collins was playing a Simmons kit at the time right?
