Re: Nord Drum 3 and 3P
My unit came with v1.02 installed. I am unable to get it to update to v1.04 (which is the only other option). I have confirmed my midi-usb cable works both ways, recording midi out to ableton live and then replaying ableton live to the ND3p. There is a shift/Drum select boot thing that puts it in ready to update mode, but it just doesnt work. Any suggestions?

Re: Nord Drum 3 and 3P
Hi,
Congratiolations on your new 3P!!
consider starting a new thread on this, but I'll briefly try to you give some tips anyway..
I should perhaps first ask what MIDI interface you are using, if you're on Mac or Windows, and what you do & see step by step.. Just some thoughts/ ideas:
-the file on the website is fine I guess, anyone else updated to 1.04 succesfully? (Win/Mac?)
-Perhaps download the Update Utility again, just in case your download was not 100% ok
-Follow the steps in the manual, start by connecting both (!) MIDI in and out to your 3P, it is important to have both connected,
-I've read on several forums that some USB-MIDI interfaces are fine with regular MIDI data (I mean notes, pitch bend, etc), but struggle with sysex data such as an update, if you have another interface at hand, or can borrow one (preferably another model, brand).. perhaps try that one too..
Hope this helps,
Albert

Re: Nord Drum 3 and 3P
Thanks you guys. I am getting a standard straight midi pair of cables to use with either my focusrite 18i20 or x32 rack to PC or Mac. I was using a cheaper midi to usb, and that probably is the issue.
Regardless... man oh man do i love this thing. The only thing i am missing to be my stand alone electronic is a bass drop... Eh, I'll start a thread!

Congrats to all who have the 3P!
'All quiet on the Nordic front' regarding the ND3 though eh?

Re: Nord Drum 3 and 3P
Update on my upgrade issue. I was able to get a standard pair of midi cables and upgrade easily via my focusrite usb interface. Guess the Midi to USB cable was the issue! Thanks to all.

Re: Nord Drum 3 and 3P
How does this compare to the ND2 in terms of synthesis options? It looks like several features have been renamed or removed?
In the Tone section:
Dyn Timbre / Timbre is now Dyn Filter / Freq
No more Punch / Hi Decay Punch
In the Noise section:
No more Attack/Rate LFO or Envelope mode.
Can anyone comment on these? Look likes important synth parameters to me. I don't own either unit (yet) but I am interested and wondering if I should search for a ND2 instead....

Still nothing?
I feel like Mr Nord Drum 3 didn't get the job and instead of letting him know they just don't answer the phone or reply to his emails...

Re: Nord Drum 3 and 3P
It's pretty ridiculous what Nord has done. Never deliver on the Drum 3 module and taking out the Pad interface from it and then still discontinue the Drum 2 which you can't get hold of any-more these days. It must be they are making more enemies than friends at the moment on the drum front.
They better read this forum and deliver a Drum 4 module with the featured asked in this forum or soon they may be outplayed by new entrants in this segment.

Re: Nord Drum 3 and 3P
So I'm thinking the ND3 has been ditched then?
Nothing for months, if anyone has any inside info it would be nice to hear...
I think Nord have decided against releasing the standalone module, teasers. It's not looking very promising is it folks?
