Hey all.
I am hoping to update my nord drum 2 and use the manager etc on my computer. But whenever I try it keeps saying "error, no reply from drum". I am using a midi to usb interface like the one in this pic https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/73 ... 4e2a74.jpg. Is this the cause for the issue? My computer is windows 10, is that the problem?
Any help/feedback/response would be appreciated!

Re: Nord Drum 2 updating problem
Hi Albywelch!
It may be several things, it is important that both MIDI IN and OUT are connected and that you follow all steps in the manual, but I guess you already did that..
I've read stories about some USB-MIDI interfaces that work fine with regular MIDI data (I mean playing notes, pitch bend, etc), but struggle with sysex data (like an update), others won't even allow you to play more than one note at the same time. Not ok. When I saw the picture of your interface, it reminded me of this story: http://www.arvydas.co.uk/2013/07/cheap- ... -required/
However.... I'm not sure that what these guys found with their interface explains your problem updating the ND2, but if you have another interface at hand, or can borrow one (preferably another model, brand).. perhaps try that one too!
Cheers
Albert

Re: Nord Drum 2 updating problem
thanks for the reply albert! yeah i plugged both midi in and out to both midi in and out on the nord drum 2 (even tried switching them to see if that would somehow work) and then tried different settings in the midi interface but all had the same problem. Do you know of a midi to usb interface that worked for you? or that would guarantee to work? As I'll probably order it online as this one was the only 'semi good one' i could find locally.
cheers and thanks,
Allan

Re: Nord Drum 2 updating problem
Hi Allan!
Perhaps someone else can advise you here, I have older versions of these:
http://www.creative.com/emu/products/pr ... ?pid=19089
http://www.esi-audio.com/products/m4uxt
but I can't find them in stores anywhere. [Edit: Amazon seems to sell the 1x1, the German Thomann still has the m4u..]
I did find a lot of M-Audio interfaces online, I'm not sure about the quality of those. I don't know iConnectivity which is all over the place here. Roland UM ONE mk2 looks interesting, plain and simple, plastic, I bet it works well.
Anyone else?

Re: Nord Drum 2 updating problem
M-Audio MIDISPORTS works fine, they are not expensive, even work fine on Linux. Just get one and your MIDI problems are gone,
iConnectivity started to sell MIDI only interfaces (the Mio series), guess they should work good too.
Just updated the ND2 with the MIDISPORT 2x2. No issues at all.
