Hi Jooga
Can you advise on connecting the Nord Drum to Patterning.
Can't make a MIDI connection.
Running Patterning on an iPad, connecting to the ND2 via an iRig MIDI.
Patterning setup – changed the MIDI channels to 10 and scale up to C5, D5 etc. Nothing received by the ND2?
No problem triggering with the Nord Beat.
Have I missed something?
Thanks in advance.
Jon

Hi Fatal laughter,
Go into the Midi configuration tab in patterning, select the first track, then where it says midi port - irig midi - select the arrow to the right then select patterning. Do this for all 6 tracks then nord drum should receive midi.

This is how it's done, though there's some settings required on the Nord Drum as well; individual MIDI channels (and not the global channel) on all six tracks need to be (as far as I see and hear..) set to, say, 1 thru 6, then you need to set the six tracks in Patterning that you want to drive the Nord Drum with to the corresponding channels, in this example, 1 thru 6. Hope this helps, let us know when you get it running.

Thanks guys. Sorted. MIDI configure / MIDI track output / select iRig for each of the six channels. The ND2 didn't require specific MIDI channels - left on GL10. So much possibility with this. Sounding great. Cheers. Jon

Re: Nord Drum 2 controlled by Patterning
Hi guys,
I’m a little stuck too.
I have a nord 3p & patterning but can’t configure them both.
Nord beat 3 is running fine on my iPad with an Iconnect midi interface.
Midi config > midi track output > Port On for each of the ports > Select first port > pattering > select patterning where it says iconnect & network session 1 > done.
Global channel 10 on nord 3p.
Still no midi signal.....
Any thoughts would be great guys.
Thanks

Re: Nord Drum 2 controlled by Patterning
Hi,
With the above suggestion to select 'Patterning' as MIDI device, I didn't get the app to output any MIDI.
Setting up MIDI in Patterning:
-'MIDI configuration' can be found under the 'File' tab,
-under 'MIDI track output' you can switch the MIDI output of each of the 8 tracks on/off,
-select 'on' if you want a track to output MIDI,
-then tap on the text 'Port...' next to the on/off switch, a new menu appears,
-there, under 'MIDI port', select your USB-MIDI interface (!)
-under 'MIDI channel', select the MIDI channel that corresponds with the Global MIDI channel on the Nord Drum, (usually 10)
-under 'Pitch', select the MIDI note that corresponds with the drum channel of the Nord drum that you want to couple to that track, note 'C4' here corresponds with note number 60
The only thing I don't understand is how to silence a track in Patterning, with mute MIDI is also stopped (logically), I can't seem to suppress the drum sounds of the app itself.. apart from muting my iPad speakers, but it would be nice to combine Nord drum and internal sounds, perhaps create an empty (silent) drum sample.. or am I missing something?
Cheers,
Albert

Re: Nord Drum 2 controlled by Patterning
Thanks Albert,
It was a school boy error of not matching the midi note on patterning to channel 10.
Saved the day again my good man!
Also having the same problem with internal sounds of the app. I'm having to turn the sound down on the ipad.
Yes it would be great to somehow merge the two sounds from internal app and nord drum.
Thanks again anyway.
It works!
