Hello, I had a strange failure yesterday.
I use my ND2 sequenced by an Elektron Octatrack. It worked well for one week until yesterday. When I come back to home after work and wanted to play music, I switched on all my gears and the ND2 was deaf to Midi !!! Panic !!!!!! I was able to play sounds with trig button but not from OT. I checked all the midi settings and tried all the possible values. No result. I tried to control ND2 with an Elektron MachineDrum. No result. I decided to change midi cable => No result !!!
Depressed to think about sending this one week old ND2 for repair..............
Finally I get up and decided to try to re-update the ND2. Connecting a Labtop through Elektron TM-1 to ND2, I started the update process (V3).
Phew. The ND2 started flashing and the progress bar on PC and on the ND2 screen meaning that it was not deaf to Midi !!! Yeah. After the update process, I plugged the ND2 to my OT and everything worked well again.

Re: ND2 broke down... during 2 hours
Was your Nord Drum 2 on OS 3.00 when u started having problems?
I'm running into the same situation AFTER I updated to OS 3.00
The ND2 refuses incoming midi messages, even the ND OS manager & ND Bank manager can't communicate with the device.
I have to restart / power cycle 5-7 times ND2 to get it to accept incoming midi messages...
Anyone else having this problem?
Thanks!

Nord Drum 2 with OS v3.00 seem to dislike midiclock in while booting. Temporary fix is to not have the midi in connected while booting.

Yes, plugging in the midi in cable AFTER the ND2 is booted worked and fixed the problem.
Now to look at turning off midi clock.

Re: ND2 broke down... during 2 hours
Im still unable to get the Drum Manager to connect with the ND2. It is still recieving and sending midi, I have tried the midi in unplugged at boot and still no luck. Anyone else finding this? Didnt happen before v3

No, never had that problem, and I think this is something else than the problem mentioned above..
On my PC (Win 8.1) it works fine, I have both (!) MIDI in and out connected, nothing else (no sequencer etc) running, I then launch the Nord Drum 2 Manager, the green 'light' in the Manager confirms it's connected,
also make sure you selected the right MIDI interface (in Setup) in case you have more than one (e.g. other internal/on board MIDI devices)

Re: ND2 broke down... during 2 hours
I'm still having issues. I have tried 2 different interfaces and two different computers (1 mac, 1 windows) and still not able to get the bank software to handshake successfully
This was working with identical set-up prior to v3
Should also add that midi in and out still works fine in ableton, its just the nord software. I close all other applications when trying to handshake, have tried off and ons, and different orders of plugging things in

Re: ND2 broke down... during 2 hours
Strange,
You mentioned that the Manager software connected fine prior to updating your ND2 to OS3.00
I'm also on OS3.00 but everything works fine here; I just have to connect MIDI IN and OUT, power the Nord Drum, launch the software, and I can start downloading banks.. So it's not OS3 per se, nor the software, and I don't think the problem lies in the specific combination of your brand/type of MIDI interface with OS3. Taken together, I think your MIDI setup, MIDI hardware and software are all ok, but perhaps your OS3.00 installation is corrupted.. Either that or your ND2 hardware is slightly different than mine and has a problem with OS3.00..
Perhaps download the OS 3.00 update again and reinstall it ?
/ revert to 2.x? .. if the updater is able to make a connection ..
Hope the above reasoning makes any sense..
I'm a bit confused...
Cheers,
Albert
