The important question is whether they have similar impedances.

Mr G is correct, it is the impedance of the headphones that makes the difference.

I have AKG 240M (very old) and they have an impedance of 600 ohms.

I also have the Audio Technica ATH40fs and ATH 50, they are 60 and 38 ohms respectively. Although even the 240s are plenty loud for me ( I rarely use the headphone jack) the ATs are much louder because they require less signal to drive them.

Check the specs on yours and others that are available.

.. i agree, if your 3 headphones all have a high impedance.. you perhaps should try one with lower impedance -

perhaps a bit far-fetched, but the other thing i thought of is if your 3 headphones all require a jack-to-mini-jack 'converter' to use it with your ND2 -what if this little converter is the culprit? -

If a local music store has another ND2 on display, perhaps you could go there with one of your headphones and ask if you can try it out

If you're still in doubt - you should perhaps contact your dealer ..

Good luck!
Albert

Hi!

My ND2 finally arrived!!

With my 250ohm headphones I get plenty of signal, that is, with notes at velocity 127 (using the trigger button) I have to keep the volume knob on-, or below the 12 o'clock position, otherwise it will be too loud!

did you check if it sounds better when you use the trigger button set at 127?
if it sounds loud enough using the trigger button, perhaps incoming signals (velocity) are too low;

-e.g. are your pads/triggers properly set up?

Cheers,
Albert

Albert, thank You for answering. Which 250 ohm headphones do You use? I realised that all mine were 40/50 ohm so that could be a problem

Sorry to hear you still have the same problem!

So it's not the sensitivity settings of your pads, -you already tried the trigger button (set at max)?
Then it's either your ND2, your headphones, or your ears ( ;) just kidding!)

sudkcoce wrote:As far as I know, the lower the impedance (ohm) the louder the volume...

..I think that's correct, so 40/50ohm should be louder than my 250ohm in theory, but perhaps something else is wrong with them, the wire, or

perhaps a fresh pair is a good idea anyway, for you to decide of course; I use a beyer dynamic dt770 'pro' (=the 250ohm model) which is a 'closed' design, I prefer those in the 'studio' -

i hope it's not your ND2,
Good luck!
