Is it possible to import ddrum sound sample to Nord2??

Postby macwino » 17 Oct 2015, 19:59

Is it possible to import ddrum sound sample to Nord2?? I`d like to create a simple drum kit in one module. Ddrum and Nord drum are both Clavia products. So does anybody know if it is possible to import ddrum sound samples into Nord drum 2 modul?
Asked many users but found no answer yet. I appreciate your help

Hi Macwino,

ddrum WAS a Clavia product, but that was many years ago and they are no longer affiliated with one another.

ddrum samples are...samples. The Nord Drum and Nord Drum 2 are synths and are not sample-capable.

In other words, no.

Bless,

Pablo

What Pablo said. But there is also the option of using the nord pad as a midi controller for triggering the samples. Essentially you will need to put the ND 2 into midi local off (in shift midi options lo.off) and then have the midi ports connected to the sample module (ddrum). Set-up the midi channel to 10 and away you go. I can give more details if you like but normally the issues are on the sample module end as they are all different. I use this set-up on occasion when I have the need to play samples and it works great - you can use any sample source you like such as a laptop/DAW, mpc, drum modules etc. Keep in mind that the ND 2 is a synth so when in midi slave mode you can't have some pads allocated to the synth and the others to samples as the midi option is a global instead of per channel option.

Can we please call this a Nord Drum 2 (ND2) instead of Nord 2. There are other Nord models which also use that number...

What Stoat said...except that I believe he is wrong about the lack of ability to mix 'n match onboard ND2 sounds with samples in the same program. It should be possible to program an onboard ND2 sound to be silent so that when it's trigger note is struck it generates no audio output and only the sample is heard. On other notes where you want only synth sound, load no sample (or don't program one for that note). Of course, also possible to layer both together...

Bless,

Pablo

Nice workaround Pablo! I'll try that out later today, also I normally call it ND2, must have been pre-morning coffee brain!
