Hi hat open/close with e drums?
I really would like to control the hi hat with the pedal from my Roland e drum kit. Any opinions on if this is going to be possible when the ND2 gets midi CC upgrade?

Re: Hi hat open/close with e drums?
Hi! Difficult to answer, I will give it a shot anyway..
What MIDI messages does your Roland brain output when you play your hi-hat?
1 note, (regardless if open/close) + CC depending on position?
Or 2 notes depending on open/close, ..or something else..? Note on/off?
With the ND2 you can define a mute group; channels* (sounds) within the mute group mute each other, each time you play another sound.. if your Roland outputs a different note depending on hh open/close then you can mimic hh open/close playing with the ND2 .. won't be a 'supernatural' response obviously
We don't know how they're going to implement the CC control feature; if a CC will change a parameter on all 6 channels at the same time, or whether we will be able to control some parameters per channel. ..If per channel, and your Roland sends a CC depending on hh open/close position, then you could perhaps partially mimic hh open/close by controlling tone/noise/click levels/ratio .. I simply don't know
- we will have to wait until CC control is there
(and I am still waiting for my ND2 to arrive
Cheers,
Albert
*a channel on the ND is not to be confused with a MIDI channel, a channel on the ND is a sound (e.g. tom, snare hh open, hh closed, etc.) The ND only receives MIDI from one MIDI channel, you can set the MIDI note for each channel (sound) on the ND
