Can't trigger more than one drum at once from midi
I have my nord drum 2 linked up with my ipad. Everything goes as planned, but I can't trigger more than one drum at once. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.
Re: Can't trigger more than one drum at once from midi
Hi!
Do you mean that sounds of different channels exclude each other?
First thing that comes to mind is 'mute group' - continuously lit green lights indicate channels that are part of a 'mute group'; their sounds exclude each other - but perhaps you already knew this & not the case
-what app are you using?
-MIDI settings of your ND2 and of your app?
Cheers,
Albert

Re: Can't trigger more than one drum at once from midi
I'm using the nord beat app.....I don't think the problem is with a group
Re: Can't trigger more than one drum at once from midi
I was afraid it wasn't going to be that simple,
Just to be sure: when you are in pad mode of the app, you only hear one sound, even when you tap on 2 or more pads at the same time? -but you do hear different sounds when you tap the pads one after the other?
I'm a bit puzzled, could you tell a bit more about your set-up?
MIDI interface, are any other MIDI devices connected, all MIDI settings of both Nord Drum and in the app?

Jtmeag4, disable individual channels and use only global channel with Nord Beat. Make sure you are receiving on the same midi channel that Nord Beat sends.

Re: Can't trigger more than one drum at once from midi
How do I go about disabling individual channels and only using the Global channel?
I'm using a Hosa Technology Tracklink MIDI to USB Interface.
the midi channel on the nord beat 2 is set to channel 10 (on the nord drum 2 I have the midi set to channel 10 as well.)
I really appreciate everyone trying to help me out on this one!!

Re: Can't trigger more than one drum at once from midi
Disable all channel but Globalchannel by pressing shift + midi repeatedly until display shows "CH: x" where x is the selected channel. Change the x value so that the display reads "CH.OF". Now press channel select and do the same on all six channels. After this, make sure global channel is set to channel 2 if you are using channel 2 on the Nord Beat app (display reads "GL. 2").
Good Luck!

Re: Can't trigger more than one drum at once from midi
For some reason I am still having trouble with this problem. i followed all the steps you listed on your post about only using the global channel and turning off the individual chennels. However I have not been able to find the display marked GL.
I purchased this unit used so I'm assuming a lot of the original settings have been tampered with. I tried to get the update from my computer, but it appears that my computer does not recoginize the drum machine. Although I can still run midi through the synth, but I still have the same problem (I can't play two notes at the same time.)
I've messed with all the Midi settings, yet I still can't get the machine to operate the way I want. I've read through the manual several times, but I still can't figure out how to solve this problem........Maybe I'm just an idiot. haha

Re: Can't trigger more than one drum at once from midi
Hi,
When you power up the unit, the firmware version is displayed shortly. With versions older than 2.x you can only set the global MIDI channel, and you won't see 'GL' in your display.
On second thought, I doubt whether your problem is caused by wrong MIDI settings. Selecting the same channel (or note-) number for all individual channels will result in this: you will hear all 6 drum sounds at once* when you hit one pad (in pad mode of the app), and because each channel of the ND2 is monophonic, hitting more than 1 pad at once gives you the same as hitting one.
*You didn't mention this, so I presume your problem is different.
Because you mentioned your computer doesn't recognise the ND2 with the update software, I started thinking perhaps there is something wrong with your MIDI interface.. I've read a user review where someone was complaining it didn't allow him to play more than 1 or 2 notes at the same time, and sometimes skipping notes - perhaps you also have a faulty one?
I hope you can try another MIDI interface, if your interface is not the problem, then.. I don't know, perhaps there is something wrong with your ND2
