Speakeasy C2D outputs

Postby clavdig » 15 Apr 2013, 13:31

I have a Speakeasy vintage preamp which I control my 122 with. However the leslie jack socket output on the C2D seems to be quite high level to go into that preamp. Probably because it was meant to go straight into a leslie that has jack inputs and not another preamp stage.

Can I defeat the onboard leslie and use the other main outputs?

Does your C2D have the optional "Speaker Model" controls? If it does turn the "Speaker Model" control to "off" (No light shows) Did you get the optional, extra-cost instruction book with the organ? If not, I believe they can be ordered from Nord.

Yup, I'm being sarcastic. You know why? Cause I don't have a 122 or a Speakeasy vintage pre-amp, that's why, and I'm jealous. I have to pay a friend to wave a tweeter around over his head when I play. And he never gets the chorale speed right.

Yes, the high level 1/4 is a couple-volt level, low impedance (gosh darn it, what the hell, exactly, is "impedance"? Is it like "pass interference", which is what usually happened when I put my hand on my date's leg?) like the out-put from an amplifier, and the main outs are the half-volt higher-impedance signal to go to the preamp. line level, they call it. Leslie sim should be turned off. Remember, it is possible to have Leslie "amp model" on with no sim rotation. Turn it off.

I also think going through a good DI box would get the signal to an appropriate level.

I would LOVE to audition that Speakeasy. I've read way too many things about the company and product that give serious pause for concern. I could never just buy one sight unseen or unheard.

I am still rather intrigued by the Speakeasy Modeling Amp though, as it purports to address a very real need in the market. I just wish the company inspired any confidence at all.
