Hi
Would it be accurate to say that the only material difference between the C2 (with the upgraded firmware) and the C2D is the physical drawbars?

Re: Nord C2 vs C2D
Yes. I don´t know any differences between these two beside the hardware features. Firmware is the same.

Re: Nord C2 vs C2D
Is the keybed any different? I tried went to the shop and I could have sworn that the keys felt different - although I don't know if it was purely my imagination and the fact that the display C2D unit was newer than the display C2 unit.

Re: Nord C2 vs C2D
I was also pondering the C2/C2D differences.
Aparrt from the obvious drawbar/drawbutton stuff, the only practical difference I could find between the upgraded C2 and the C2d is that on the first you have quick access to 3 settings per manual (one active drawbar and 2 presets), while on the C2D you can instantly recall 5 settings per manual (two drawbar sets plus 3 presets).
Not much really... even if I LOVE the physical drawbars and I'm not completely comfortable with the drawbuttons, it seems pretty hard to justify the almost doubled price of the C2D (presently the D it's around 3000€, against 1650€ for the C2... you can almost squeeze an Electro in between!)

"it seems pretty hard to justify the almost doubled price of the C2D"
Gee, as far as I know, the price of a C2D has remained pretty much the same. Since the C2D is (and deservedly so) a huge hit, and a best-seller (watch, it'll be the new B3, the standard organ) it is possible the C2 is now discounted, or may even be eliminated from the line-up, but that isn't the C2D's fault!
It reminds me of the libretto from a German opera, which I freely paraphrase here:
C2: "Oh, Nord C2D, you're so lovely!
C2D: (bats eyelashes) "I know it, I can't help it! Don't hate me because I'm beautiful"
Wait a minute, that' last line is Rue LaLenska, not Wagner.

yes I didn't mean that the C2D is a poor or overpriced product, on the contrary!
Its appearance obviously forced dealers to discount the C2 (it made no sense that it cost almost the same as the newer and better C2D), but this resulted in the C2 being so "cheap", that one have to seriously consider if the price differential is worth it.
I don't know if these "hard discount" sales are because the C2 will soon be put out of production... I wouldn't be surprised.

, "that one have to seriously consider if the price differential is worth it."
Seems pretty simple to me. If you use the Vox, Farfisa or Pipe organ a lot, a C2 might be a better deal. The LED buttons work fine for those, and you still get the same B3 sound. If you want the ultimate convenience and realism in a B3 clone, it's the C2D with the 5 sets physical drawbars.
The C2D (or the next version the C2D2? or C2D MkII?) will become the standard organ, like the B3 was for so many years. At the rate C2Ds are appearing on You-Tube videos, it can't be too overpriced. People are managing to get hold of them.
However, I will make a generous offer, cause that's the way I am. Anyone who is dissatisfied with their C2D should get in touch, and I will pay all costs associated (packing, shipping, insurance) with shipping it to me. You'll never have to see it again. As the song says "who could ask for anything else?" Plus, I'll send you a video of me playing the great Rodgers-Hammerstein song "You'll Never Walk Again". (You know, the scene where he's injured on the merry-go-round thingy) Sounds depressing to me, but if that's what you want, that's what you get. I aim to please.

Re: Nord C2 vs C2D
by the way, I just noticed that the C2 has disappeared from Thomann's catalog (biggest EU retailer)

looks like retirement is getting closer...
