MIDI sound module

Postby Tscime23 » 08 Feb 2017, 01:28

I have a Nord C2 and would like to midi a sound module to it. I'd like to be able to have piano sounds on the lower keyboard. I'm not sure how to do this, thanks.

1) connect midi OUT on Nord to midi IN on module
2) set midi channels on both devices to the same number, 1-16
3) dial up piano on module
4) zero out all drawbars on Nord's lower manual
5) play

bless, pablo

By splitting the lower manual (pedal to great manual button) you can use 3 midi channels (default channels are #1 for upper manual, #2 for lower and #3 for bass) and have up to 3 sounds: organ on upper manual, one sound on the lower 2 octaves on the lower manual and another on the 3 upper octaves.

Useful for having a couple of bass/pads/piano sounds available.

I love the recommendation from Spider re the splitting of the lower manual. Gives the option to keep playing the same left hand bass sound, but switching from organ upper manual) to piano (top 3 octaves on lower manual) for soloing. That said, any thoughts on a module called the Pianobox II ? Small footprint, 128 sounds, (most of which I won't use), and even some cheezy drum patterns). All direct MIDI controlled, so no latency issues. Powered by DC 9V plug in.
Another question (which I'll post as new) - another version of the Pianobox II is one called the "S-Engine". Looks very similar to the Pianobox II, but is powered by USB.
So, question is - If I connect the USB port on my C2D to the S-Engine (same type of jack), will the C2D power the tone module ? Or is the C2D USB connection just for inputting data ?

I did this with my c2 years ago... I never really committed to the set I because of the following gripe... maybe it has changed? Is the c1,c2, or c2D velocity sensitive over midi? If not, playing a piano sound through a non weighted non velocity controlled Keynes is going to feel crazy...

I saved ‘all drawbars in’ as a preset on my C2D to be able to one-click mute the organ. I have a little Yamaha Reface CP on the lower manual of mine and it’s best Electro I’ve ever had! KILLER Wurlitzer.
