I was wondering if anybody could render an opinion on the Nord C2 Gig bag that I could purchase for $210. Alternatively, I found a bag by Gator(the GK-61) for $110. Does anyone have any experience with both by chance or have any opinions either way. It seems like I would be paying an extra $100 for a case that is red and says nord on it. I could not comment on the construction of either one but perhaps some of you have experience with them. After shelling out the cost for the C2 an extra $100 in the bank wouldn't be such a bad thing for me.

Re: Gator or Nord Gig Bag for C2
Why must you get a soft case? A call to "Hybrid Cases" got me a hard case which fits like a glove, and cost me $149 at my door! It's not a full ATA case, but it doesn't weigh as much as they do. It certainly is strong enough to put things on top of it in the car, and since it's hard, all the door-way bumps and jostling aren't transferred to the organ. It has drawdown latches, a locking latch, a nice handle and there are wheels available for the end. The C-2 weighs 36 lbs. and the case weighs 15 lbs. at most. total: about fifty pounds. I've been very happy with mine, and it's about half the price of a Nord soft-case. The Nord sodt-case does have extra compartments for music rack and stand, but I think the advantages of a hard case outweigh that.

Re: Gator or Nord Gig Bag for C2
I might mention that my case is the next-to-cheapest model. Much heavier-duty cases with more features can be ordered, fitted foam, heaviergrades of wood and metal trim, etc. can be purchased if you need that, but they will weigh more and be more expensive. BTW, I was nervous about the fit, since there are so few two-manual keyboards. But I just said "Nord C2" and they had a case to fit.
I wonder if that Gator bag will provide any protection beyond a cover. I believe the Nord case is pretty thick, with about an inch of foam in the sides and plush fabric on the inside.
I'm pretty stuck on the hard case.

Re: Gator or Nord Gig Bag for C2
I have the c2 gig bag. It is nice, but it certainly adds weight to the package, & is a bit cumbersome on stairs. that being said, it has ample compartment space in the form of a large zippered pocket on the upper lip, where i keep 1/4" cords, the roland dp2 leslie sim pedal, the roland ev5 expression pedal, midi cables, etc. i got it mainly because my wife insisted (she agreed about THIS purchase, which is always a relief to those who have G.A.S . Plus, I also dickered with Sweetwater about getting it free with the purchase of a C2 last september. They met me half way & chopped the gig bag price in half, which is better than a kick in the pants. Left up to me, I would settle for a much lighter GATOR bag, though i have to admit, the Nord bag looks quite impressive & is very stylish. And it's great to put all of the misc. items i mentioned above in that zipper compartment, though i don't care very much for the added weight. It does take up a lot of room ; you would do best with an suv , a van , or a station wagon with a long bed (or a pickup truck with a decent bed & a camper cover.)
GOOD LUCK ! In the log run, with a lot of gigging, a hard case would last the longest.

By the way, you can get your hard case in RED, just ask for it. And there are several nice Nord decals came with the C2. Just stick the small one on the end and the large one on the side...hmmm, do I really want everybody hanging around to know what's inside?
BTW, I gotta admit, when the forum advised me to use a Yamaha FC7 I did, and they were right. I never used my Roland EV5 again. The FC7 is as close as you will get to a Hammond swell pedal and costs half the price of the Roland, and is heavy metal construction. Give it a try. It also seems to work best with the Nord volume control circuit. You can use the sforzando feature to jibe with extreme overdrive, which is nice, too.

Knowing that a happy marriage depends on complete honesty and communication, I put those principles into action when I bought my C2. First of all, I had a friend drive me to another state to buy it, and claimed it was his, on loan to me, for about three months, or as long as I could get away with hiding the Visa bills. When she finally did get the bill and firing all her guns, exploded into the space of my studio, I faced her like any honorable musician would. I pretended I was asleep. She responded in a reserved lady-like manner by emptying a full garbage pail on me. Of course faking a seizure was the only possible course open to me at that point, and I took it with alacrity. I them proceded to a motel with celerity, and now my wife's consulting her lawyer and swearing she'll shoot alacrity with celerity. Well, you can't go threatening double murder around here, (especially against two such popular girls) so I'm alright until she gets bailed out. I can't go her bail, I spent all the money on my C2. So it all worked out for the best.
Anybody else needs advice on marital law, just give me a holler.

Yes, the truth is often more humorous than anything I could ever make up. BTW, another true story (and this one is like, really actually true) concerning my C2 organ rig was just published on the "Funny Story" thread in this forum.
