>Why is this so frustrating for some people? This I cannot understand...<
I don't understand it either.
If you are playing for an audience, their appreciation of your Rhodes sound is not going to be sullied by their awareness that "gosh, Korg has a better one. Why is that guy playing a Nord?" They aren't going to notice your less-than-perfect Rhodes emulation AT ALL. Actually...they aren't even paying attention to you. They are watching and listening to the singer. Sorry.
If you playing for yourself, and you are just dying to have a perfect Rhodes sound so you can properly channel Tones for Joan's Bones, then seriously, all joking aside...you should save up and buy a 1970s Fender Rhodes. You will never be happy with a digitized sample on a modern keybed. Here's a list from that one guy's site, and he's on the high end:
1976 Rhodes Mark I Stage 88: $2,999
1974 Rhodes Mark I Stage 73: $3,299
1975 Rhodes Mark I Stage 73: $3,299
1975 Rhodes Mark I Stage 88: $3,499 (Client’s Choice: New Tolex or Custom Shop Order–Call for Info)
1976 Rhodes Mark I Stage 73: $3,499 (Client’s Choice: New Tolex or Custom Shop Order–Call for Info)
OR...you just want to have everything in your little red wagon, you want the world like Veruca Salt, so you will wait forever for Clavia to never provide you with the exact Rhodes sample you are looking for, and you'll fill the forums with complaints about how lame that is, when the Korg Empire right down the street has one that's so much better.
