So I am a older person who enjoys playing all styles of music. I am a guitar player but, am trying to become a keyboard player. I currently own a Korg Kronos 2 88. I would like to get a Nord so I can take it with me to my friends jam session and try to play. I need some recommendations as to which way to go with a Nord. I am looking at the A1 or Lead 4 but, am concerned that the Lead 4 might be too much synth sounding for playing smooth string sounds. I have also considered the Wave, and other Nords but, they do not really have a synth section. Can someone make a recommendation? Should I just go with the A1?
Thanks.

Re: Which One
A1 is not enough for all styles of music. It has no pianos or other samples. It seems that you need a Nord Stage (who has a synth part similar with A1) or a Nord Electro (who has only sampled synths). Both have wonderful pianos, organs and you can load the samples you need.
NE5D, NLA1, BS2, Boog, TX81Z, JV-1080, A33, AX-Synth, PC3K6, M350, BeatstepP. etc.

Re: Which One
Your Korg has plenty of firepower, so no need for a Stage unless you're into hedonistic excess, like me. Something to jam and occasionally play out with, complementing your Korg. How much do you need pitch bend and mod wheel? I don't for a lot of the stuff I play.
If it were I, the Nord Electro 5 61 might be something to look at.
It's a featherweight, yet exceptionally sturdy. B3 sounds are awesome. Piano sounds are awesome too, but playing on an unweighted board isn't for everyone. While not a synth, all sorts of sampled synths are available in addition to real strings, horns, etc. and the surprisingly useful Mellotron samples. Most of the classic synth sounds are available.
No pitch bend or mod wheel. Basic layer and split, though. The sampled synths are good enough to get you through many bar band classics, though not all of them.

I think I have gear issues ....

the Wave and the Nord Stage series have full synth sections.
Do you need any non-synthy sounds at all? i.e. any need for pianos, organs? authentic sounding (rather than synthy) brass, winds, strings? (though synth can get you pretty close to *some* of those acoustic sounds)
