This is the right place if your topic concerns different Nord Keyboards, you are not sure which one is the right one for you, etc.

http://www.lecker-nudelsalat.de/nord-stage-3-2015/
(Try google translate. They claim an unknown source at a distributor or so.)
Basically, they say the NS3 is going to have
  • Three Slots
  • Drawbars
  • Reverb Effect per instrument
  • Allow loading samples also in the Piano section
  • Some smaller additional changes
They claim that velocity depend samples have not yet been decided (at the time).
Possibly, there will be no more SW73 version, and the price will increase by about 700 EUR over the NS2.

Anyway, not sure this source is trustworthy but soon we'll know anyhow!

Why on earth would they add drawbars and DISCONTINUE the waterfall keyboard at the same time? It's the only reason to HAVE drawbars in the first place!

That makes no sense whatsoever.

This, sadly calls into question the whole post. Shame, because I'd WISH for the rest of it to be true: I'd order a new one within hours of those specs being released.

Good point. Also, not sure why they would discontinue the waterfall version, in general, maybe the whole adjustment of the Fatar keybed is too work intensive?

I'd think they discontinue the HP76 version, if at all.

The best indicator we have of future events are past events.
(And that exciting teaser video's pretty good info as well).

Past events tell us we're due another Nord Stage model at this NAMM- as this is the update schedule. The video seems to prove this. I expect they'll add new features and other incremental upgrades. The video tells us it has drawbars and a larger screen- I'm excited about both of those.

Past events tell us that they're likely to offer both waterfall and weighted options. I can't imagine them adding drawbars and doing away with the waterfall keyed model. If they add to the interface (add a more extensive synth for instance) then perhaps it won't fit on a 73 key chassis, but I bet they'll still offer a waterfall version -even if they had to add a few more keys to fit all the tasty buttons and knobs.

I, and many others, have built their rigs around a Nord Stage. It would behoove Clavia to allow us to upgrade our Stage without changing out everything else... thus I expect them to offer the same keybed types and sizes... but who knows!

I'm super pumped. If they release a waterfall Stage 2 with more memory and physical drawbars I'll buy it right away. Other new features will be icing on the cake.

What do you think the chances are for a HP73 keybed on the next Stage? I have really come to love my electro 4 HP73 (especially @ 24 lbs!). Might all future Pianos, Electros and Stages offer a HP73 version??

An HA lightly weighted 73 with waterfall keys made by Nord.

This is not a dream so much as really exactly what everybody wants.
Made by you to your exacting standards.
Put the same thought in to a fully weighted 88 made by you.

Nord. You make the best engineered kit available. That's not a compliment.
It's a fact of life we as owners of your sweat and integrity have come to
dearly love and appreciate everyday we sit down at the Red Marvel of an instrument you've
built for us with care and pride.

Thank you

Am I reading this correctly - is your first sentence "hammer action lightly weighted with waterfall keys"? I think some of those cancel each other out... ?

chatfd wrote:Been in the NORD keyboard family for a little over three years now. They seem to have a pattern of what is upgraded, new versions, or generation of their keyboards. But my first, a NE3-73 was great - sold it for a NE4--73 which is even BETTER! I just figure it's time for the multi-useful Stage: Organ/Piano/Synth - that can split & more. Any thoughts? CH

I doubt they'll do it, but I'd like to see either a multitimbral Electro or a smaller, simpler Stage with a bit less functionality- for instance only one of each section rather than two, and maybe have a choice of a 61 note waterfall version.

As far as I'm concerned, the only viable options for B3 sound are Hammond Suzuki and Nord. The HS SK1 has the benefit of being multitimbral in an Electro sized instrument at a moderate price. I think it would be great to see Nord do something like that, while still offering the flagship Stage models.
