What gender does your Nord Keyboard have?
Due to a discussion I had the other day with a colleague, I was wondering what gender your (Nord) keyboard "has".
That is, do you refer to the keyboard as it (after all, it's a keyboard, i.e., a "thing"), he (like a "friend" and based on the observation that the majority of players at least on this forum seem to be male), or "she" (like being red?)?
Anywaym, so just wanted to start a poll (purely scientific survey, no sexist comments please!).
Have a great week!

My vote might be affected by my native language where we have only neutral pronouns, no he nor she

Well, we have one word hän that is both he and she, and another word 'se' for it...so juhanna, do you use hän or se whem you talk about your Nord?

Re: What gender does your Nord Keyboard have?
"Hän" was not in the poll options But my NS2 is "it" in Finnish nevertheless. I don't think "hän" could be used on things quite in the same way as "she" (never really "he"?) is used in English. Perhaps someone who tends to speak in somewhat humorous style overall might say something like: "[Hän] is in one of those moods again" if the keyboard was acting up or something.sakari wrote:Well, we have one word hän that is both he and she, and another word 'se' for it...so juhanna, do you use hän or se whem you talk about your Nord?
Does this satiate everyone's appetite on Finnish colloquial linguistics? OK, back to your red boards then, gentlemen...

Re: What gender does your Nord Keyboard have?
My keyboards are all referred to individually as "it." They have no gender. I find it quite irritating when people use "her" in reference to their guitar, keyboard, or car. That's only acceptable when speaking about an actual female or a ship. I did notice that someone posted that the Nord Lead 4 has more balls than the Lead 3. I must agree. Still, no keyboard should be called him or her.

Apart from a 4/4 Bass-cello we know as Betty Bass, I've never named or sexed any gear or instrument. Betty is such a dominant figure in the room she just had to be named and it couldn't be anything other than female.
