One wouldn't "stretch tune" anything close to an octave, or even a semi-tone. It's much more subtle than that.

What i meant was that the lowest sampled note gets streched or pitched down when you play below it's range.
Sorry for mixing this up.

Thanks to everyone who joined in this discussion.

Yes I do understand that we are getting the raw sound of these uproghts.

However, I sometimes play a friend’s Yamaha U2 upright which keeps very stable tune.
It doesn’t have much detune in the low notes.

What I find disapponting is, playing a song/tune in the middle register and then ending on a bass note that so obviosly ‘out’.

Well, maybe I’ve been living far too many years on electronic ‘perfection’.
I’ll give the Uprights a chance and spend more time with them.
Have read somewhere that some people don’t bother using them at all!

I’m enjoying the vibrancy on these forums - the exchanges often provide invaluable information.

Necessarily. CP70/80 sound like crap with equal temperament.

Bottom notes of my CP70 sound like crap even when they're properly stretch tuned!

Just out of curiosity, can you record some snippet going down in in octaves?
Is the stretched tuning of your CP70 similar to the Nord sample? (lowest octave about 30% off when measured by a digital tuner).
I can't say it sounds "great".

I will when they’re both freshly tuned (mine at home and my partner’s in our studio).
