Hi folks,
I was bored and transcribed the short "Boogie Demo" piece from NORD's piano lib - well known to anyone I guess. Sounds quite impressive at the speed it's played! I'm still struggling getting it up to speed, that's why there's no recording of me playing it So here I share it as a little Christmas gift - enjoy and keep on groovin'!
I'm looking forward to hearing your rendition of it using your favorite NORD piano sample!
Best regards to all, Alex

Re: Transcription of NORD's "Boogie Demo"
Here is another recording of the same song from the Velvet video, perhaps easier to find the missing notes here?
Watch on youtube.com

Re: Transcription of NORD's "Boogie Demo"
hi,
Thanks for the video. I tried also with this one.
Anna Greta Sigurdardóttir has a way of using her 2 thumbs to mark the rythm between the melody, and that is what is hard to get.
Look at her finger in the video, I guess she pushed the thirds and the seventh of the chords doing that and not at the same moment.
that's why, if written, we could analyse better what her technique is. But the result is precise, thin, elegant.
Very interesting way of playing I would like to analyse more
Cheers

A few more transcriptions...
I took the challenge, I guess... so here are a couple of the transcriptions requested above. I've straightened them out a bit (otherwise it's too difficult to read), but they are sort of "rough" approximations. Let me know of the errors you find
First, the intro from the song "Nú vil ég enn í nafni þínu" as played by Eythor Gunnarsson (of Mezzoforte famous) -- the youtube link is above. It's a very stylish rendering of the main theme, and can also be use to accompany a singer with only minor variations -- although it needs to be tenor if it's a male, or else you'd better transpose it a bit!
Nú vil ég enn í nafni þínu -- Eythor Gunnarsson (Intro)
Next up is the same song, as played by Anna Greta Sigurdarsdóttir on the Nord Velvet Demo -- youtube link is also above. It is a also a very nice, jazzy rendering of the song, with some subtle voicing lines here and there. It is very difficult to transcribe accurately, and as the Velvet is surprisingly overtone rich, I'm not sure about some of the voice doublings here and there. So take care with this one
I have only included the first two verses; the more free improvisation (which is cut at some point) is not yet included.
Nú vil ég enn í nafni þínu -- Anna Greta Sigurdarsdóttir (Two first verses)
As said, let me know of the bugs you find!

Re: Transcription of NORD's "Boogie Demo"
baekgaard, it is so nice to see someone else's transcriptions than my own! Quite a meticulous effort, just listening and reading along mentally, here at work...
I do seem to hear a couple of missing things - the opening chord is not a plain triad, there is something else going on there - perhaps a minor 7th? Don't quote me, truly a shot in the dark. Also a couple of missing bass notes later on, that I *thought* I heard - but it could also be my ears playing tricks on me.
But your transcription of those inner notes starting around measure 9 is fabulous... not sure I'd have had the patience.

Re: Transcription of NORD's "Boogie Demo"
Thanks, PScooter63.
You're right about the opening chord; it's a definitely a minor 7th chord. I have accidentally dropped the 7th out for some reason.
I'm sure there are more places where I missed notes; it's bit tricky to score it as played, so I likely forgot some here and there -- and I am also sure I missed a couple of things listening to it. Let me know what you find otherwise, and I'll add it too; I may also have a review myself when my ears are fresh again
I've updated the pdf with the 7th on the opening chord.
