I use one TT08A and an SS V3 for gigs with a bass player. To me, this amplification sounds great, is easy to move and setup, and has plenty of volume if needed. The TT08A provides an accurate, clear, and pleasing sound while the SS V3 adds a full / omnipresent type of sound. Note that I'm using one, not two, TT08A's.
Here's a recording from a gig. The recorder is an iPhone 5S with a Shure MV88 clip on mic sitting on top of my top keyboard. So, because of where it's placed, the mix is not balanced but I think it provides a good representation of how the rig sounds. Try to ignore the sound of the emergency vehicles: we were playing outside and there was a fire down the block.

Re: Running stereo with different sized PA speakers
That sounds like a pretty nice setup, and nice playing, but isn't the SS over 50lbs?

Al's setup is near-perfect for small jazz gigs when you're looking for an intimate, acoustic vibe. I do something similar to his setup when duty calls.
But if you're playing louder electric music, a different strategy may be called for

Re: Running stereo with different sized PA speakers
I nearly bought 2 used TT08As but I could not determine their age and ultimately passed on them. After researching a few other brands I'm back to the idea of 2 K8s or K10s, or one of each. I did get a chance to play a gig with one Mackie 450 and one dxr12 and it sounded pretty darn good. I thought my old Mackie sounded about as good as the dxr but I'm trying to get away from that 50 pound dinosaur.

Re: Running stereo with different sized PA speakers
After much deliberation I decided to go with a pair of k10's. I also ordered a k8 so I can try out the mismatched pair. I figure I can always pick up another k8 down the line. I'm not buying the 12's though, I swear!
That new Space station with the 12" woofer looks intriguing but I have no idea when that is coming out.
Thanks for all the responses, they were a huge help!

That's partly the reason I went for the DXR10's over the DXR8's. For 2 speaker monitor use, I have one on a mini tripod
on my right and the other in a floor monitor position to my left.
