Even then I can reach the highest velocity sample easily and often when I don't want that particular sound.

Rate(scale) ALL Piano (Keys) Library sounds

I confirm that for Ap's/Up's and also EP's.
 Using left pedal of the Nordtriple may help but is not a good issue for solos.
another tip is to split and assign right part with another one with consequent EQ or FX for attenuation.
just an alternative.
Needs keys needs key-board rate scaling as on my old DX. fine.

If you are talking about the DX7, they did not reach MIDI velocities above 100. Quite odd how Yamaha did get that wrong.

Thanks Mr_-G
On a Dx7, one or two octaves only were playable, worsen below and above.
the KRS was an artifact used to make high notes less agressive.
Fortunately, today we all on this forum have 21 Century stuff.
but as Needskeys and a lot of users, i want more natural accoustics :
higher the frequence = lower the volume
Unfortunatelly searching 944 items in 95 pages about EP's to find something like (thanks to all).
maybe reverse velocity (when i play high i don't play necessarily hard !)
don't care about midi ! only accoustics

I've been setting keyboard touch to the most sensitive setting and then trying to eq the higher velocities first and then returning to the heaviest keyboard touch setting. It seems to help but I have not had a chance to test it on a gig.

I emailed Nord regarding this issue but so far have not had any response.

Oops! You were talking about KRS... and I was talking about the limited MIDI velocity bug!
Now I understand what you mean. ;)

Resurrecting this semi-old thread as I've spent more time...

UPRIGHTS
The Rain Upright is so amazing. Still. Tiny, even the L sample, and just gorgeous. Works for everything. Cuts through live, and in studio it just destroys. Amber Upright is probably the best, I think. It is "the" upright sound, probably. The Bambino has SO much character especially in the low end. That truly is "your living room piano". And I always go to the Black Upright for a lot of stuff. These four are my favorites.

I used to hate the Mellow Upright but man, it begs to be played with soft, slow, depressing pieces. VERY nice. All the others are good... Grand Up is a little too, I dunno... Grand-ish I guess... used to feel the Queen a lot but not these days. Blue Swede is good for Coldplay stuff. And I dunno... I'm not really feeling the Baby Upright. Maybe it will grow on me in time.

GRANDS
Still, the Studio Grand 2 is the go-to. It offers the most dynamics. People hate on Velvet, but I think it's great for soft, sad stuff, and I use it a lot. I still am not feeling the Italian. I don't know why. Something just sits wrong with me, with that Grand, even the XL version. It sounds so plain.

The three best, in my opinion (for headphones and studio): SG2, Lady D, Grand Imperial. For live-- without a doubt, the Bright Grand and maybe the Silver. The older pianos are still good, though. The SG1, the CGC and CGA... still very nice.

Haven't spent a ton of time with the Royal... but, it is pretty damn good... it's like the SG2 on steroids.

Additional thoughts?

The beauty here is that we all have access to all these different samples to evaluate and integrate.

First world problems :)
I think I have gear issues ....

I should update my last post over a month ago--- I have the Royal XL in the Stage 3... headphones, yeah... it really kills. Just flawless. Hard to downgrade that one to Medium or Large. The Blue Swede is still a force to be reckoned with, for the uprights... there's something about that. Really beautiful. Someone above mentioned that they tried every upright for the Chuck Berry "You Never Can Tell" song and the Blue Swede won. Absolutely agree-- I think that's the sound for that.

I can never decide... my Sound Manager is constantly open, and I'm swapping things in and out.

I have every piano loaded, as medium (except the Honky Tonk as SM), except these: Saloon, CG1, SG1. Everything else is loaded.... and the XLs I have currently are: Royal, Imperial, Bambino, Amber, Mellow, Grand Upright. Earlier today I had the Velvet in place of the Imperial. Just trying out the Imperial now as XL (was Medium when Velvet was XL).

I still can't dig the Italian as XL... it's so plain. I don't know. Stuff I've heard played on YouTube with it, though... really impresses me, sound-wise.

The Amber's beginning to not impress me as much.... I don't know why. I might downgrade that to M to get the SG1 and CG1 in there. I might also downgrade the Grand Up to medium... as, I love it... but if any sound identical (XL vs. M) it would be the Grand Upright... I had it loaded right next to itself... and played the same pieces over and over, and couldn't hear much of a difference.

Such lovely sounds. All around.... haha.

For musical theatre/show stuff, I absolutely love the Royal Grand 3D. Never really use the uprights.

Amber Upright is great for most everything I do. Bright Grand for the extra cutting through edge, but it can sound tinny in the upper registers. With my E3, I fit both in medium size. Playing in stereo of course, but Amber isn't too bad in mono.
