Quickie question on amp sims

Postby emartin149 » 27 Jun 2016, 22:10

I know the Twin is modeled on the Fender Twin, and the JC the Roland Jazz Chorus...anyone know what the Small is modeled after?

Thanks.

According to the manual, and the way I've always heard it, it's supposed to model those weird little oval speakers in a Wurlitzer 200A.

Thanks guys, for the info.

>According to the manual<

I searched my manual, didn't see this. Maybe it's not in the Electro 4 manual? This is all mine says:

"Small, JC and Twin emulates three different kinds of amplifier and
speaker cabinets. The amount of drive is controlled by the Speaker/
Comp knob"

This brings up the always interesting (to me anyway) point that these keyboard manufacturers can't mention certain brand names on their equipment or in their printed/online materials. You won't find the words "Hammond" or "Rhodes" mentioned anywhere. You will find "Vox" in the manual, but just "VX" on the keyboard console. In the Piano Libraries, Wurlitzer, Bosendorfer, and Steinway are named, but not Fender, Fazio or Yamaha...abbreviations are used instead.

I've been doing a bit of work just recently for another manufacturer I'd best not name here, but they have a good reputation for calculators. Exactly the same thing there... pianos sampled from notable instruments but no rights to use the name.
As an aside, we often get comments here from new owners disappointed in the sound of their Nord through their amplifier. Same problem with this manufacturer... internal speakers let the side down dreadfully.

It's in the current version of the Stage 2 manual, at least:

i was so happy to learn this about the "small" amp sim. i kind of avoided it for the past few months, but now that i have it on with the wurlis, i think it makes a huge improvement in the character of the sound. Thanks!
