Hi guys,
I have a Nord Stage 2 and am aware of the Mellotron tape presets. Curious to know if anybody also own one of the modern Mellotron products (M4000D keyboard or rack, or M4000Mini).
Is the range of sounds/instruments available worth the investment, or do I get 80% of the sounds at comparable/decent quality with the Nord's mellotron sounds?
For background, I compose on DAW and am always looking for new layers of cool sounds/textures. The M4000D looks inspiring from what I have been able to see. Any color you could add would be super helpful.
Thanks,
Louis

Re: Nord Stage 2 + Mellotron (M4000D) = Duplicative?
Adding: I saw one past thread (dating 2012) relative to this. But nobody clearly answers the marginal benefit from having a M4000D (over simply using the library available to Nord instruments).
Re: Nord Stage 2 + Mellotron (M4000D) = Duplicative?
Even if the Melloton has been used on a lot of songs, I think investing in a real one when you can have a lot of sounds coming from the Nord Library is not worth it. Maybe it's the style of music we play but I don't need a lot of Mellotorn sounds anyway...

Re: Nord Stage 2 + Mellotron (M4000D) = Duplicative?
The mellotron banks covers almost every sound from both the Mellotrons end the Chamberlins, both looped and unlooped, so i would say we already have 100% of the sounds.
For me it would be a complete waste of money.
The only advantage i can see is the possibility to have all the sounds avaliable at once, wich i dont think would fit in the Nord.
But i like the idea of these new mellotrons though.
