A couple of years ago I bought a Krome. I had been a Korg fan for many years. I was very disappointed with the build quality and key action. The sounds are great, including the pianos. I thought the touch screen would be great but if you accidentally touch it playing live it can send you into never never land where you must reboot the machine. A big deal when gigging because it takes FOREVER to start up. And, no Korg, not yet another proprietary power cord! I returned it to GC and on the advice of a friend bought the Electro 4 SW. Yes, more money but what a revelation. I can say it's the first keyboard I have ever owned that inspires and empowers me the way a real musical instrument should. I now own a C2D also. Nord has me hooked. I am thinking about trading the 4sw for a 5hp since I have the organ I use the Electro mainly for piano.

Glad you're enjoying your Nord experience. I had much the same impression when I first got mine - it made a much bigger difference to the way i worked than I was expecting. I hate to sound too much like a fanboy - indeed I am not, they are very far from perfect - but people who haven't used them and judge them from a paper spec alone underestimate the power of a good interface and easy workflow. You hit the nail on the head when you said it's more like a real instrument. I thought I had the clumsy interfaces of your typical workstation under control and I didn't realise just how much better things could be. They're just lots of fun rather than a chore.

One additional note on Krome -- my buddy has one and likes it okay, but planning on moving to NE5. Thing is, he's listed the Korg for sale locally and can't get a nibble at $600. Nords retain value WAAYYY better than any other brand. Not exactly sure what the reasons for this are, but it seems to be generally true across all models.

This is very true-

I purchased an Electro 3 for $1700 and sold it for $1450 a year later
Same with my Wave, purchased it for $2000 and sold it two years later for $1800.

I don't think there are any musical products, let alone keyboards, that hold their value as well as the Nord products do.

BTW, my Stage 2 will never be for sale!!
