Yet it is madness there is method in it. Synthogy did something similar: https://synthogy.com/index.php/news/ite ... ynthesizer

Did you miss that they’re selling their samples via the Yamaha website? The Yamaha online store is chock full of various commercial sound sets. Though there are a handful of free soundsets generating added value for their devices; it’s mostly a storefront for various developers.
Clavia, however, has never sold any samples or sound sets for any of their machines. They don’t have a store.
Paying a developer to offer their main product for free on the Nord website is a completely different thing from what Yamaha is doing — and it doesn’t make sense for them, at all.
Of course, the crux is that Scarbee can’t offer their pianos in Nord's .npno format, because as far as we know, only Clavia can create those. This is the big difference to the Yamaha platform.

Re: Nord Christmas Gift ?
While we are dreaming: At some point, and in some respects, Clavia will need to adjust their policies. Software is one side, Hardware is the other, licensing is surely involved in both. May I reiterate my old dream that Clavia will offer a substantially better keybed (for pianist needs), going beyond the Fatar connection?
Of course I have no idea whether or how this would be doable at all, given the structure of the market for keybeds. But we may dream a little, right?
All the best for 2018, everyone!

Re: Nord Christmas Gift ?
Bear in mind that many many people are happy with the Fatar keybeds.
I have a CP4 which is regarded as having one of the best keybeds on the market. I like it a lot, but i have to say i was happy enough with the keybed on my previous Kurzweil Artis (Fatar) my previous Nord Piano2 and current Stage2 EX all again Fatar. I find them very playable and pleasant with great touch to sound connection.
The CP4 in comparison doesnt blow me away as being THAT much better. And my old Roland RH3 was IMO awful... so its all subjective i guess. If most people are happy with Fatar, Nord isnt going to break the bank to buy a competitors keybed.

I do, and there is nothing wrong with that, of course. But there are those of us who aren't and who play the Nord sounds from other keys (such as the CP4) for that reason. Having to own one instrument less would be a treat...
PS. I own the CP4 myself, and while I prefer its keys, I strongly prefer the Nord's sounds.

Re: Nord Christmas Gift ?
And five posts up, we have somebody wishing he could play another company’s sounds on the Nord keyboard...
I think it’s safe to say that there is absolutely no way Clavia can make everybody happy.
Enjoy the new upright, everybody. It’s pretty cool.

RH3 is Korg.

and there just aren't many option. It's not like Kawai, Yamaha, Casio, etc. are likely to want to sell to their competitors what they see as something that makes their boards more desirable. Fatar probably makes the best of the actions that are available to third parties. And really, I think the TP40 is pretty nice, and most actions that are seen as better also yield heavier keyboards, which would work against one of Nord's biggest strengths, portability. Many of the actions that get the best reviews have only been in boards that weighed 50+ lbs. (More like 70 for the top-of-line Kawais.)

Yup, though the heart of that is the common request for some new Rhodes samples. Though the good part is, if you want that VST Rhodes, you can add it via a Windows tablet. Updated clav with release samples would be nice, and not really available externally, because I'm pretty sure Nord's snappy low release point on the clavs doesn't work that way over MIDI.

My bad.. I meant PHA III (knew it had 3 in there somewhere But I still didnt like it
You are of course are all right.
I use my CP4 to play the Stage2EX as it has the better keyboard, (as well as giving me the full 88) and I also prefer the Nord sounds. I get that it would be nice to have this in one package.
The point I was making is,
a) Although the CP4 is better, its not That much better that it would be a total disaster if I would have to play the Nord Fatar keybed itself.
b) From a business perspective, Nord buying a competitors keybed probably wouldnt generate enough extra interest to Nord to justify the cost of doing so when most people are happy with what it currently offers with their modified Fatar actions.

+1 that. (I keep meaning to find and try a VPC1 to see what the fuss is all about.) That said the CP4 is quite light for a decent full 88 key board at only 38.5 lbs. Almost Half an MP11
