Re: Nord and not Moog
Purchase comparisons would mostly be between specific models, not overall brands. Is there a specific Nord and/or Moog you have in mind?

Re: Nord and not Moog
Easy:
All Moog are monophonic, all Nord are polyphonic. You like the Moog sound but can cope with good sample because you are more a player than a tweaker, go for Nord. You do EDM/Techno and you want the real Moog sound, go for Moog...
I've always been tempted by a Moog bt cannot decide to spend that much for only one note....I'm like Mozart, I prefer "Too much note" than one note...(Cf the movie "Amadeus").
As a conclusion, if you like to connect sequencer, modules, computer and to play live for the style of music I was describing, go for Moog...For the rest, I think Nord will give you way more possibilities for any kind of music...Because of the free sound bank....So many good samples of Moog....
That's it

Re: Nord and not Moog
It depends greatly. Functionality wise, the Nord is far superior. But a Minimoog is more like a work of art, some get it based merely on very subjective reasons.

Re: Nord and not Moog
If I want a Moog I activate the Ladder filter on my NL4. I'm not that fussy.
To be a bit unfair, I don't generally respect the Moog ethos that much - they don't seem to take many chances. Instead, they rely on their name too much and release "safe" products they know will sell. There have been a couple of exceptions, but they aren't as innovative as a company compared to many others. This is just my opinion, of course.

That's a bit of a ridiculous argument.
Reissuing a machine that routinely commands six-figure sums in a used state (if and when it ever comes up for sale) is the LAST Situation you would want to be cutting-edge innovative. That's kind of like complaining that the Jaguar E-Type re-release doesn't have auto-pilot...well yeah. It's "bad enough" (from the point of view of seeking the original experience) that they had to compromise to make it meet modern safety standards.
But yes, Moog's product palette is (necessarily) conservative. They're the original, and they're not forgetting it.

I think the original question is aimed at Nord Lead owners.

Re: Nord and not Moog
I thought about the voyager but i prefer the lead 4 because its polyphony and the price .
Now behringer come with Model D with reasonable price.
