This is the right place if your topic concerns different Nord Keyboards, you are not sure which one is the right one for you, etc.

Just to add some salt to the soup, I think terming new samples as "gifts" is misleading. Part of Clavia's business plan is to regularly provide new, free sample options. That helps maintain a devoted and consistent clientele, and justify a premiere pricing structure.

When we call them "gifts" it suggests that Clavia is a) doing something just to be nice and b) has no commercial obligation to do so. I would argue that neither applies.

It also bears remarking that some of Clavia's older samples are showing their age, when compared to the newer ones. So yes, there are lots to choose from, but not all of the options remain as desirable as they once were.

Almost responded to this last night, thought better of it, looked at it again this morning and simply cannot allow this to pass without comment...

(whatever)

I guess some people prefer their soup salty. That stuff leads to high blood pressure and eventual stroke. Less salt in the diet is called for...

>Really? Commercial obligation? <

Clavia promote their library as part of their product. It's an integral part of their marketing and business plan. As such, we can and should expect regular new samples, just as we expect Apple to update their iOS.

>Your sense of entitlement is quite appalling.<

This statement is criticism of me, not the idea, and I'm not going to honor personal insults with debate.

>I find this attitude disturbing in the extreme...Are you going to file a lawsuit to enforce this obligation<

I think you are taking this way too personally and as such, not responding in a rational way. I'm not sure who you are, but it appears you work for Nord? If so, I suggest you do your employer a favor and stop raging at Nord customers who post things you don't personally like on chat forums. This isn't the first time you've lit into me (and others):

This wasn't even a criticism - it was simply a thought about Nord's business and how I felt it should be perceived. I suppose I should remain forewarned that any opinion about Nord that is other than golly-gee idolatrous is going to be met with the resident bull-in-a-china-shop.

Ok...how about this then: since my ideas are so appalling to you, please extend me the courtesy of not responding to any of my posts in the future, and I will do the same for you. Of course, I've never responded to any of your posts, certainly not with umbrage or outrage, so it will be an easier promise for me.

You may claim to be a "private individual" Pablo, but Nord has a whole page devoted to you on their website, including a hearty statement at the end from Nord's national sales manager on how you are part of their team.

http://www.nordkeyboards.com/man-behind ... ch-support

So whether you like it or not, your "personal opinions" that you post on this forum, including invective against other customers, cannot but help being perceived as sanctioned by Clavia, and representative of their own attitudes.

Trust me, you are doing them (and yourself) no favors by reacting in such a hostile manner to me or anyone else who might have a notion that appalls you. Get yourself an alias if you want to rip into people.

Selah.

I'm not all that into hurling poo here or on any other forum, but emartin, please understand that Pablo is a well respected member of this forum who devotes his time to helping others. Like the rest of us, he represents himself here. His association with Nord via AM&S supports many of us here when we need services or parts assistance, but he does absolutely no promotion of product, nor does he make an effort to drive additional sales through his contribution on this forum. Pablo owns a literal arsenal of Nord products, old and new, that he acquired on his own dime, largely to assist people like us.

That being said, his point about how manufacturers charge just as much for their flagship products and then promote to you to buy additional content is valid. Nord supplies us owners with very high quality content without additional charge. Personally, I'm thrilled when something new comes out. If I can make use of it, great. If I can't, I'm sure someone else will find it valuable.

With regard to some of the samples showing their age, it's all a matter of application. I regularly use the "old" Black Upright piano because of it's character. When I fired up my brand new Stage 2EX a few weeks ago, the "old" Romantic Upright and Studio Grand 2 were part of the factory programs, and each has their place.

Do I feel like Nord owes me something as an owner? Not really.
Am I happy that they feel like they owe me something as an owner? Absolutely!

If you find a lot of fault with the product or the company's way of doing business, maybe Nord products aren't for you. And that's fine.
