Back to topic. ;)

It is curious that the new Amber Upright is not delivered with the Stage 3. It had been possible, that the Amber had been made for release with the Stage 3. But obviously, it is so new that it is not yet contained in the Stage 3.

And I like it very much, for being new ;), and still I think, it sounds more comfortable than the other uprights, that I have tried.

(not being french, but german, which is even worse....)

I find the new Amber wonderful excepting the bass-sounds (under C3) who are weak IMHO.

@Steve: no worries, I knew you were French that's why I said that....(Not MTL, Winnipeg, MB, is where I live...)
@At Woodoo, yes, I know, you asked to be back to topic but cannot resist... The only place when German people are worst than French is.... When they beat us at football.... Rest of the time they are super nice people....
And to finally back to the topic... Hard to say about it, I have the room for 2 XL only in my Stage 2 and they are the Fazzioli and the Bosie....But at least, when I will have the room that you get with the Stage3, I will know which one to choose...

I'm late to this game - after a lot of work and traveling I finally downloaded the new Amber - great piano! It has replaced the Petrof (Black Upright) on my NE5D, and is much more expressive to play.

Congratulations Clavia! Keep the good sounds coming!

Tried out the Amber with a celtic/gospel quartet I play with last night - works great for accompanying Cape Breton fiddle tunes, cuts through nicely and the bottom end is funky enough for this style of music, usually played in kitchens on an upright. Very sweet. :-)

Playing with the Amber a bit more, I discovered that it has a warmer low end compared to the Queen Upright. The Queen's lower register is more biting. This is neither better nor worse, but I find there is still a song our band plays where the Queen is more appropriate than the Amber.

The upper half of the keyboard is similar enough to me between the two samples.

I also played the Amber with my big band. It worked really well for most of the book. Where it didn't work was for the Frank Sinatra ballads; it wasn't sweet enough for the embellishments, so I kept going back to the Grand Lady D for those tunes. Otherwise, the Amber swings really well!

I'm quite surprised no one talks about the Rain piano. It has my preference over all the others... maybe because it has a very strong character and my ears are not trained enough to make the difference between a grand and any other upright sample...

Finally got a good chance to test out the Amber piano in a live setting. It worked really well for me; the sound sat well in the mix (vocals, acoustic guitar and piano with some pad/strings/bass). When you lay back, it blends well and when you lay into it, it cuts through nicely without being overly biting.

I can foresee that it is useful also in contexts where an upright would not be expected; it plays as nicely as some of the best grands do.

I really like the Amber, but have been bouncing back and forth between it and the bright piano. Does anyone use the bright piano patch? I don't see it talked about much.

Really impressed with this, very strong sound which is great for my duo work accompanying a vocalist.

Normally i lean towards grands, usually Lady D/ Bose rather than the uprights for playing live, but i'm really liking the Amber at the moment. Great Sample :)

The Bright S4 is not heavy enough in the bass register when the piano is the only instrument IMO. Its great for cutting through a mix in a band though.
