Nord just posted on Facebook, new Electric piano is available to download!

The Nefertiti MKI is a funky old workhorse that has spent most of its days in the darkest corners of the legendary Nefertiti jazz club in Gothenburg.

I feel like all those weeks spent learning "Minute by Minute" by the Doobie Brothers may not have been in vain...

Finally a new EP, although the small filesize (only 20 mb) feels weird.

Re: New electric piano available - Nefertiti MKI
I've only listened to this new rhodes on cheap computer speakers (at work) but I compared it to the old samples and this one sounds crazy meaty and quite "large." I've always felt the eps were a little thin and stale but still absolutely usable for live gigs. This one seems spot on.
I am ridiculously excited!!!! It's been quite some time and the amped rhodes never really did it for me.
I actually have this very same keyboard (Rhodes Mk1) with several differently sourced tines. I have been toying with the idea of dragging it out to gigs for that true mellow sound but it seems that may not be necessary. I'm gonna get them side by side later and hopefully I won't be able to tell much difference.
Thank you NORD! my ears and my lower back are quite grateful.

The 20MB size for this new EP is pretty close to the size of the Wurlitzer 2 Amped XL (24MB). The previously existing EP sounds are in the 5MB-6MB size range. I like the Amped Wurli sound, so there is reason to be hopeful.

Re: New electric piano available - Nefertiti MKI
I downloaded it and did a 5 minute A/B test against the E Piano Mk V. Once I got about an octave above middle C, I noticed more of a bite in the sound, and when I hit the keys pretty hard, the new Nefertiti sound had more of a "butt-kicking" aspect in it than the E Piano Mk V. From about middle C down, I was not quite sure what to make of it. I noticed that others have complained about a lack when playing softly with the previous EP sounds, but I don't have a useful comment on that: I am more of a keyboard owner than a keyboard player, so we'll have to wait for feedback from more skilled players.
I do think it is pretty cool that this update can be used in my old Nord Electro 3. Thanks, Nord!

Re: New electric piano available - Nefertiti MKI
Downloaded and am (happily!) having a play.
In character, and as you might expect, we are closest to a fatter version of the venerable EP2 (Mk1 Suitcase). But there's more to give at each end of the dynamic range, and at the extremes of the keyboard. Very playable ... really repays being played as you would the battered mk1 it was sampled from. Plenty of "bark" if you dig in.
I've found my self taking the chorus of most of my usual rhodes patches and letting the character of the sample sing out. It really sounds nice through the fender twin amp model.
