>A XXL rhodes please Clavia.<

Here we go again. The Quest to Digitize the Mythical Rhodes Sound.

The Nefertiti is fine, guys. So are at least three other EPiano1 samples. If these don't do it for you, you are sitting at the wrong keyboard. Go buy a Rhodes. Spend thousands and then hope it sounds half-way decent and doesn't fall apart on you. And hire someone to truck it around for you too.

Then come back here, and enjoy the Sparkletop. We'll leave the light on for you...

I agree with you, The Perfect Rhodes is a myth, and each keyboardist has his own musical memories and his own idea about the way a rhodes is supposed to sound : chick's corea? Al jarreau recordings ? George Duke ? Don Fagen ? Firsts Larry Carlton recordings ? Billy Joel ?
People who aren't satisfied with Clavia's proposals should say which Rhodes they really want : May be some oh them just want a very large Rhodes sample, about 50/80 Mo like Korg's ones ? To be sure that all the keybed and release noises are included ?

...it's not having a big Rhodes actually, what does it mean ?
It's not a comparaison with a real mk1/2 rhodes vs nord, it is comparaison between nord rhodes sound and other brands. Yamkorgdexibell have consistent rhodes sounds, with separate settings for mechanics noise etc etc.

I like very much the nord piano 3 (great keybed). But their rhodes still not to be to the level (of others yam...) it's a fact.

Instead that's exactly the point, I mean: stereo =how/what? A Suitcase recorded with 2 microphones (and placed how/where)? Or something else like the lower to higher keys samples spread on the stereo image left to right, like an acoustic piano? What do you expect exactly i.e. why are you asking for that?

But this, in a nutshell, is why Nord is different: their pianos are real instruments, not idealized perfection.

That goes for the Nefertiti as well.

It was mono, because, "mono" was the best they could do back then.
The new rhodes mark VII is stereo, it has stereo preamp and effects. It even has a midi port!!!

I 'm not a sound engineer, I couldn't say where to put the mics.
In the acoustic piano section of the nord website, they say exactly for every sample the position of the mics.
I suppose, someone could try different takes to achieve the highest possible quality.

The cp-80 was mono as well, but they created a stereo sample and it 's much nicer than before.
The acoustic pianos are not mono, neither stereo, they 're just... acoustic, but the samples are stereo.

Anyone disagrees, that the stereo samples sound better than mono?
It's just my opinion, maybe I 'm wrong...

I'm changing my mind about how I think of the nord. It's a Nord, not a Rhodes/Hammond/Clavinet/Analogue Synth.

I'm due a cash injection in oct and I'll be buying a late Mk1 Suitcase 88 and Clavinet D6. Then I can appreciate the Nord for what it is, which is a very very very good stage keyboard.

I'm sure I will be learning to flip the lid off and hold a screwdriver just so, whilst looking at the end of the tine and pickup simultaneously.

I do miss taking a tool kit to a gig. Considering the insides seem a lot more delicate, clavinets seem more "stable"
