This is the right place if your topic concerns different Nord Keyboards, you are not sure which one is the right one for you, etc.

Mainly as sample player Wave or E5D? + sample lib Qs

While i had another "wich one topic" recently i think its more organized to ask this seperately.

I mainly want to get a nord to customize is with my own sample, nord sample lib and samples from other vendors (synth vcos etc)
I am neither an organist wich 100% needs the emus, i even think i prefer samples of vintage Organs like vox, phillacorda etc
Nor am i a pianist who 100% needs the acoustic or even the EPs since playing a real pianet underneath the nord is a lot more pleasure for me than ep samples.

So the sample lib structure and space + clavinet samples are my main wish. As split keyboard is.
Now looking at the sice of the clav and ep samples in the nord piano lib it seems they arent multi samples either. So it wouldnt make a big difference if these are in the piano lib or the sample lib right!?

That makes the sample lib memory and split my biggest needs. I wish i could combine my needs with a good resistant keyboard, would die for wooden keys but am not going to add any extra keys. Cash is also an issue.

So i am torn between the Wave for around 1000,- used or the 5d around 1500,- eur

The sample mem is close, no real spit on the Wave but control for my synth samples (like moog vcos etc) i dont think i would like the digital synth a lot by itself but who knows.

The wave would also safe me cash..... So its really hard to decide if i really need the 5D for better keys, split, bit more space and the of course nice organ emu and piano lib.

I plan to play a lot of mellotron on the nord so i am again thinking the pitch stick and some subtle synth effects like lfo would help a lot to bring the samples to more live, emulating the imperfections of a real mellotron. (Like markus Resch does in his new digital mellotrons with thinks like adjusting tape age and motor stress etc)

The other sample lib questions i have are
- the clav and Ep samples in the piano lib (aswell as harpsi) are all one layer samples? Not velocity multisamples....only the APs are?
- what size would a 16bit 44.1 35 keys instrument, unlooped, 30mb in WAV have when convertet to .nsmp?
- are the mellotron and master tape samples of nord, limited to the original key range or did they time stretch them or something?

User change of the keybed for example on a nord wave to something more heavy, restistant is probably almost impossibe?

The clav and EP samples in the piano lib ARE velocity multisamples. In addition, on the NE5D, the clav sounds have a lower release point which makes them play snappier (more authentically to me), you wouldn't get that from something loaded into the non-piano sample memory.
