I was at a rehearsal the other day with a stand in keyboard player who's playing for me next week, and found that he used a lovely brass sample on his Nord. It sounded better than many of my custom made Roland brass patches for certain songs. I was surprised, because I'd gone through the entire Nord sample library a while back and hadn't found any brass sounds that I liked. However, this sample he used sounded great through my band's PA so I decided I'd load it up in my own instrument to try it out.
My laptop is out of action so I'm using my wife's laptop. It uses Windows, whereas I'm used to OSX. After about an hour of trying to get my head around things, and after fighting through the infamous "Application not found" bug that Windows seems to love, I installed the latest version of the sound manager and hooked it up to my Nord.
The guy was using the stock programme "Bary and Brass". I looked in my Electro and found that it originally had that Programme and it was still listed as being there, but it wouldn't work because I'd uninstalled one of the samples it uses a long time ago - Horns + Bary (or something like that). I found the sample online, downloaded it, loaded it into the Sound Manager (after Windows eventually let me...) but the Programme wouldn't recognise it. I checked the file name and found that the sample I downloaded was identical to the one required, except for the fact that that the one I downloaded was a 2.0 file. I'm assuming that means it's been made to work with the new sample library.
The empty programme in my Electro seems to want the 1.0 file. I got my electro way before the sample library 2.0 was unveiled. I updated my E4 to the latest OS a while back and have installed the latest version of the sound manager on my wife's laptop, but I can't seem to get "Bary and Brass" programme to recognise the "Horns + Bary" sample it needs to work. Both are in currently in my instrument, they just won't aknowledge each other. I'm usually pretty good with stuff like this but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get them working. Usually the instrument detects the sample and makes the programme go "live" automatically. This time it isn't. Is there something ridiculously simple I'm missing?

Re: Loading New Samples into old programmes
you said that you updated your NE4 to the latest OS "a while back." How long a while? What OS are you running? Sounds like you're due for another OS update, which will add v2 Sample Library compatibility to your instrument.
