Note: I do think they have an overall sound character they share, so if you dislike the Nord synth character, you won't be pleased.
BUT if you dislike the synth section for its limitations and not for how it sounds, then buy the NLA1!!!

Re: Lead A1 versus Stage 2 synth section
Similar "problem" here... GAS attack.
I have a Stage 2, and also a Lead2x and a Wave.
BUT... I just found an amazing deal on a used A1!
I'd sell the 2x as it makes no sense for me to have so many synths, but is it worth it to have both the Wave and the A1? (of course I'll keep the Stage2 that's my main do-it-all board)

Hej Spider!
Later on you will miss the NL2X. I have kept mine in my bar - just looking cool for the time being.
I would not get that much money for it anyway. (400:- EUR today?)
You "need" both the NLA1 AND the Wave. They are two very different beasts.

Re: Lead A1 versus Stage 2 synth section
Ehm....how don't know if I can REALLY trust Marlowe's advice on this matter!
Jokes apart, it's really difficult to choose, they are different beasts each with its own sonic territory... But I feel bad because I really have not enough time to use them properly.
In a way, it may even be appropriate to sell the Wave, because there's a lot of overlap with the stage: two slots, samples, EQ, effects... But the Wave is just SSSOOOO nice!

Hej Spider!
Of course you can trust me. I only lie to women.
Now I have like ten or more hardware synths ... and is still scanning eBay for old Rolands that I "need".
And, you can send the Wave to me. I'll even pay the postage.
(The Waves are getting hard to find nowadays, and the prices are going up.)

Fully agree...but unfortunately there IS such a thing as "too little money/space/time"

Re: Lead A1 versus Stage 2 synth section
Hi, i have a NLA1 and im using througth the loop station of the guitar pedal. I doing ambient post -rock music. I love the NLA1 for textures, intros etc, but i miss a good acoustic piano sound for some simple parts (i´m using a electro piano sound in the lead now). Is the only thing i really miss from the lead.. I´m thinking to sell my NLA1 and buy a NS2 compact. The thing is i only can use one keyboard on live because of the loop station and the midi confg and i don´t want to have a worst synth for my music.
What do you think about it?
Is there any chance to save a patch or sound in the Lead A1 and then open these in the Stage 2? With these i can buy the stage and keep the lead and use only the stage in live concerts..
Thanks for answer me..

Hej Yo!
No, not directly ... totally different architectures! You'll have to sample/record the sound from the NLA1 and then put it through the Nord Sample Editor, generate Nord specific sample files and load them to your Stage 2.

Addendum: there are several sources for free, useful and ready synth samples for the Stage 2 and other sample playing Nords

Re: Lead A1 versus Stage 2 synth section
Great!! Thanks for answer me Marlowes
So, i would like to know if the synth of the Stage 2 is right for me to make these textures (like in a scary movie for example, or stranger and mistery sounds) and some tipe of warm synth hammond sounds with a lot of relase sound and no attack as i´m doing in my Lead a1. If these will be sounds great in the stage synth i´ll sell my lead and buy a stage 2 compact.
I´m asking about the patches, because i´m alredy creating a nice patches for my songs and if i change the nord i would like to keep my lead work on the stage compact. What do you think? it will sound similar througt the Nord sample editor? What is the best option for me?
I´m a guitar man, i play with a lot of pedals and midi control pedalboard. So the Nord is s complement for my band. Just intros, some pianos with the right hand in the end of the songs or in the beginign or textures and atmosferic sounds. I also use the lead a1 trougth my guitar looper and then to the DI..
My style is like Sigur Ros, Mowai, These will destroy you and moore post rock bands..
