I have used the Grand Imperial for a long time but today I just found out some strange noise.
I'm using the 5.3 lrg size.
Can someone try to replicate this to see if it's not just me?
The string res must be on for this.
You hold the sustain pedal, from the octave below the shift button hit C#. not to soft. If the sample has 3 layers, the second have the noise. Something like it. Also the key D next to it has the noise too.
The noise is like a click.
If you turn string res off the noise desappears.

I can't hear anything... can you make a recording and post it here?

I don't notice it here immediately; most of what I hear sounds like an acoustic piano (including the hammer "thump" and all). i agree that a recording could help. You may even be able to create a small MIDI file (with a note of the right velocity) that triggers the sound?

Re: Grand Imperial string res noise.
I will try to record later. I always played using a Koss porta pro or a presonus headphone, but yesterday was the first time I used a iPhone phone. Maybe it has a different frequency region? I will try to get a record from it.

Re: Grand Imperial string res noise.
There are 3 notes: C, C#, D
I play twice this sequence with the string resonance on, then the third time is off.
I played from soft to hard, the key C# and D are the ones with the noise click.
Use a phone with high volume.
The audio is raw, no plugins.
Using an EQ in the DAW I got to isolate the click noise between 5300 and 5500hz.

Re: Grand Imperial string res noise.
You mean, you heard the noise but for you it's not a problem or you couldn't hear yet?

Re: Grand Imperial string res noise.
It sounds like a piano to me, no extraneous click. I also looked at the waveform and the spectrogram in Audacity. I can see anything odd either. Perhaps you are hearing a harmonic, but I would say that is normal in most pianos.
Hopefully others will give their opinion.

Re: Grand Imperial string res noise.
Just listened here as well, although not with cans but on my (mini) Genelecs. I don't notice anything abnormal either; sounds like a piano to me too.
Of course it might be that I would be able to hear some noise on my larger speakers (Dynaudio) or in headphones, in-ears, ... or that someone else notices it.
But unfortunately, I don't hear anything non-piano like.
BTW: The Nords are full of "weird" sounds; Clavia claim that it adds realism that some notes sound weird. I agree to some extent, but there are some interesting examples of samples that contain e.g. a lot of hum in the sustain part, suddenly kicking in -- those I could live without

Re: Grand Imperial string res noise.
I would suggest that you guys try headphones or in ear. Also different brands. If possible, try to adjust the EQ, cut all frequencies but turn up in the 5k range.
I hope I'm not getting crazy :/
