Cross compatibility of Nord keyboard libraries?

Postby noblono » 14 Sep 2017, 13:50

Hi everyone --

I am new to piano, but I have been a musician and audiophile for a long time and am particular about the sounds of instruments. I have demoed several respected brands of keyboards and only the Nords had pleasing (to me) sounding pianos, EPs, and organs. However, since I am a beginner, I'd prefer to spend less money. I am looking at the older Nord keyboards, but I will likely not have the opportunity to actually play them before buying.

I have a specific question about the older Nords (Nord Stage, Nord Electro 2 Rack). I haven't been able to find information about their internal memory size, so I wonder if they are limited to the factory sounds listed here:
http://www.nordkeyboards.com/sound-libr ... ory-sounds
http://www.nordkeyboards.com/sound-libr ... ory-sounds

Or, could I load the smaller sound libraries from a Stage 2 or 3 on these older keyboards, space permitting? I would be happy if I could only play 1 instrument at a time before having to wipe the memory and install another.

Also, does Nord offer reasonable repair rates if the keyboard were to malfunction?

Thank you!

Neither Nord Stage Classic/EX nor Nord Electro 2 support Nord Sample Library, Nord Stage Classic/Ex supports Nord Piano Library with some limitations an respective memory is 128/256 Mbytes.

There is no compatibility whatsoever at Programs (patches) level between any Nord product family or models, except models which are actually a small evolution of each other such as NS Classic/EX or Nord Lead 2/2x

You can find this info on Nord website, look into the Products/Legacy and check the Specification page of each product.

Thanks for clearing up my confusion! I had missed the Legacy menu.
