Hello, this is my first post here.
Recently I purchased Focusrite's Scarlett 2i2 interface with hopes of recording my Stage 2 EX. I looked up how to connect it, but I'm still at a loss as to which cables to connect where. Would anyone be able to offer some help and/or tips?
OS: Windows
Audio interface: Focusrite Scarlett 2i2
Instrument: Nord Stage 2 EX (Keyboard)
DAW: PreSonus Studio One 3 | Ableton Live Lite (testing) | Pro Tools First (testing) || Audacity (for now, until I get my head wrapped around the other programs)
Thank you very much

Re: Connecting Nord to an Audio Interface
Update: All right, now I know I'm supposed to have some sort of cable that includes "Combi XLR" (2i2) and "1/4""(Nord). I'm not sure what the difference is between 'Combi XLR' and 'XLR' though;;
Another question I have is if I need to connect from Nord ch1 only, or both ch1/2 as well as to the 2i2 input 1 or both inputs.

Re: Connecting Nord to an Audio Interface
Hi,
Just get 2 mono 1/4 inch jack cables. Connect them from the output 1 and 2 to the input (front) of the Scarlett.
So this will create a stereo sound image.
These are combi connections which means they will fit both XLR as jack connectors. Since the NS2EX has no balanced outputs, there is no need to use XLR converted cables.

Re: Connecting Nord to an Audio Interface
Can I kindly hijack this thread, I'd like to connect my nord stage 2 ex to a zoom r8, would both balanced and unbalanced 1.4" cables work?
Here's the zoom r8 description from the zoom website:
Type: 8 XLR/TRS combo jacks
Input impedance: (Balanced input) 1KΩ balanced (2 hot), (Unbalanced input) 50 KΩ unbalanced (1 with Hi-Z input impedance 470 kΩ (Hi-Z on), 2 with phantom power)
many thanks

Re: Connecting Nord to an Audio Interface
They should work both but since the Nord Stage 2 (EX) outputs are not balanced, there is no need to connect them using balanced (stereo jack / XLR) cables.

Re: Connecting Nord to an Audio Interface
I am trying to do the same thing here with a Nord stage 2 EX, however, my output 1 connection on the Nord is broken, will it work with Output 2 and 3? Output 3 and 4 don't work but maybe I need to enable them. Failing that is there another connection method I can use to get around the missing output 1?
